Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?   We are not alone.  Aquarius reminds us of that connectiveness and its power.

Aquarius

Aquarius speaks to friendships and the groups of people where we like to hang.   Aquarius is the sign of the water bearer, but it is not a water sign.  It is an air sign and is therefore long on mentality and communication.   In ancient times, people (water carriers) went to the well or town spicket or oasis that served the community.   Obviously, water is vital for life.  But on another level the water carrier had an additional perspective.   At the well, people talked to one another and learned news.   A king died, that family moved, crops are good, crops are bad, people are getting sick at a nearby town, information at the water source had its own vitality and the water bearer was often the one to hear it and take it back to family or community.  Sharing and talking and strategizing is an important component to Aquarius.    

During Aquarius we lean into our own inner connectedness.  Where do we go for vitality?  What do we bring to friendships?  What do we glean from friends?   Obviously in our modern era, a lot of Aquarius is tapping social media.   What groups do we choose to put our energy?   However, while we do seek and lean into connectedness in Aquarius, we also have our radar up if we are being trapped by herd thinking.   Our unique vision must be tapped and processed during Aquarius.   We may be handed a group thought that sounds good in spirit but if it is off in practice we may seek to find another group to hear what they say about the practice.    Our brain switch is very much ON during Aquarius. 

This New Moon Aquarius chart has Sun and Moon at 9 Aquarius with Mercury at 2 Aquarius and Pluto at 1 Aquarius.  For the next 20 years Pluto will at times be a factor in the New Moon charts.  In this case it is a wide conjunction to the sun and moon, but it is tight orb with Mercury which was exact about five hours before the new moon.  This is a potent aspect for the New Moon and 29-day lunar month could have a theme of intense conversations about breakdowns and breakthroughs in the news or we may be experiencing on some level with our friends and groups.  God help any of us when we walk into ‘red tape’ but at least during Aquarius lunar month we may reach out to our group(s) and get an unusual solution.     At first blush getting others feedback can speak to insecurity about one’s own opinion but in Aquarius it is not necessarily questioning self but more of a ‘this is so weird, what do you think?’  energy.   Lots of discussions to be had this cycle.

Double downing in the prepare-for- weirdness- &- innovativeness is Aquarius’s modern ruling planet, Uranus who stations direct 24 hours after the launch of new moon.   Have you ever been in a room and maybe down the hall someone opens a door and even though you are 20 feet away that breeze swishes over you?  Well, this New Moon is minding its business, setting a tone for the 29-day lunar cycle when who should open the door and swoosh in?  Uranus, Aquarius’s landlord.  

Mr. Weird, Ms Eccentric, lets-be-different-Uranus will be mixing it up.   For these 29 days, those who expect the unexpected will be wise.   

Uranus spends five months retrograde each year and this retrograde started September 1.  On July 7, after seven years of transiting through Taurus, Uranus will move into Gemini.   Between now and July 7 there will be something akin to a dress rehearsal for the world as we figure out what we still need from Uranus in Taurus.   Taurus is a food sign, a construction sign, it manufactures, and it is our currency.  Uranus still has work to do in terms of new technology that impacts food.   Construction.  Money.  Buildings, etc.   Uranus wants to make it all ‘new’ and if something is broken, Uranus will no doubt create attention, albeit weird focus.  But for all of Uranus dynamic and disruptive energy it does not do it in a vacuum.  If there is an issue or has been an issue that NO one has been dealing with, that is when Uranus gets our attention.  Even if it feels out of the blue there is probably a theme of ‘broken’ that has not been addressed.   

It is interesting that ever since Pluto dipped into Aquarius last year and now has returned for good and Uranus is in the last ten degrees of Taurus, the bird flu has wrecked the egg and poultry business.   Innovation is clearly needed.   Let’s see what additional problems Uranus finds in Agri Business for the next six months and then what innovation can present itself when the planet moves into curious, smart, fresh Gemini.    

On a personal level those folks with planets in late degrees (23 to 29 degrees)  of  Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius,  you should try and  remember that swoosh of wind.  Uranus could be telling you there are some changes you may need to make between now and July 7 and again late in the year and beginning of 2026.

Jun 9:        Jupiter enters Cancer 

It takes one year for Jupiter to transit a sign.  While there is a lot of opportunities and gifts with the planet Jupiter, we should all get down on our knees and be grateful that Jupiter is ONLY in a sign for one year.   It is so dang large, and the gravity pull of Jupiter is so huge that it can be exhausting especially in some signs more than others.  

An argument that the Jupiter in Gemini transit is one of those exhausting transits can be made with ease.   Jupiter is in its detriment in Gemini meaning that the nature of Jupiter and the nature of Gemini are complicated.   Gemini likes to bop around, pick up a piece of data then drop it, go futz with something else, then pick up a new piece of data and wonder if it had anything to do with the other data, then get bored and move on.  You get the point.   Jupiter, the planet associated with big thinking, big philosophy, big opinion is overwhelmed by the rapid-fire data during its Gemini period.  It has trouble finding up from down.  Not a comfortable place for Jupiter. 

Fortunately, in the New Moon chart there is a fruitful aspect between the Sun, Moon and Jupiter.  This suggests some opportunities to be gleaned around the new moon and during the lunar 29-day month.   Doors could open, connections could be made, a fresh new group of peple can appear who are helpful.    Jupiter stations direct in the Crescent Phase of the moon which is when we gather information which is kind of perfect for exhausted Jupiter who will no doubt use its gravity to find some semblance of a thoughtful narrative that it could have missed in the last few months.   Media, especially more traditional, may have some big moves especially with Uranus stationing direct just a few days earlier.  

On a personal level, siblings and neighbors could be more active in our lives. Communication that was dormant in some area may get a fresh start.  Stories could come to us at lightning speed.   As always avoid gossip.    For those folks with planets between 11 and 29 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sag and Pisces, if you are feeling overwhelmed, please unplug.   Go get lost in a movie or streamer.

We have been in a Mars retrograde since December 6.   The shadow started October 4.  When Mars is in a sign it is usually for six weeks but when it is retrograde it is extended to six months.    Finally on Feb 23, Mars will straighten out and fly right and I suspect we will all feel better for it.   

Since October, Mars has been ping-ponging between Cancer and Leo.   The station occurs at 17 Cancer.   Mars is in its fall when it is in Cancer.  The warrior planet just can’t find its normal bearing in watering Cancer.  Less of its weapons are available to Mars.    However, feelings are pronounced especially around family, and it will get into squabbles to protect family and home.   The crab pinchers will be sharp and extra pinchy until Mars leaves Cancer and re-enters Leo on April 18.    Once Mars returns to Leo it will be more comfortable and ready to face outward for bold action.  We will cover that later in spring.   

On a personal level for those of you with planets between 17 and 29 Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you are no doubt feeling the need to harness your energy and do work that your emotions are telling you that must be done.  Even if it is scary or overwhelming you could be feeling a ‘must do’.  Be measured if you can and always check your interior compass to make sure you are doing the move that feels right and is not too excessive.

The Venus retrograde will be coming up on March 1 and will be covered in more detail in the Pisces New Moon report.   However, Venus entered the shadow on January 28, the final full day of the Capricorn lunar month.  During the entire Aquarius 29-day cycle Venus will be in shadow.   On Feb 1, there are two aspects with Venus that are profound in their kindness.   Venus conjunct Neptune followed by Venus conjunct North node.   Pisces is tenderhearted and Venus understands the power of love, both personal and universal.  

Venus will conjunct Neptune again on March 27 and April 1 and then one more time on May 2^nd but by that time both Venus and Neptune will be at 1 degree Aries.   Venus conjuncts north node in Pisces again on April 1 and April 23.   All of these dates will be good days to connect to the goodness in others and the world.  With so much negativity out there, these aspects should feel like a much-needed oasis in a desertscape of harshness.     There is also a boost by Neptune, the higher octave of Venus who will conjunct north node on Feb 7.  

On Feb 3, Venus enters Aries where the planet of values; including love, money, beauty and creativity will be getting her battle on.   She is going to be there a long time so expect sparks in March.   In the meantime, just take note of anything Venusian that comes up during this shadow that ‘rubs’.  Are your values feeling challenged?  Is your beauty, money, love feeling off?   It does not mean anything is over but maybe during the retrograde some things will get tinkered with, so the flow is better by the May 15 when the shadow ends.    

Pluto 

We are continuing to understand the new 20-year journey of Pluto in Aquarius.   There is so much unknown, but we do know if it involves new technology since it is Aquarius.   If people are looking for their groups that also speaks to Aquarius and this 29 day cycle is all about friends and groups.    Breakthroughs can be in the offing since Pluto speaks to evolution.   Of course, Pluto is transformative under pressure which can sometimes include big booms.   

I would like to share a personal observation on what I think may be part of Pluto’s process in Aquarius.   On January 7^th my hometown of Los Angeles experienced terrible fires.   The winds were extreme, the fuel was dry, and the result was thousands and thousands of homes and businesses burned to the ground.  Two communities, Pacific Palisades and Altadena have turned into a blackened moon scape.   While the source, response and ramifications of the fires will be unpacked for years there was one thing I observed that I felt spoke to Pluto in Aquarius.   

From Tuesday to Thursday the bulk of the press conferences were focused on the fire and safety, weather conditions, evacuations etc. 

However as early as January 7, California's Attorney General issued a statement warning against price gouging. It may have been boilerplate, but it was a warning shot. I couldn't help but think of the Moon (Aries) square Sun in the morning and then the moon (Taurus) square Pluto in the afternoon. Of course, at that point we were still in that Mars oppose Pluto hangover. 

But then by the time Moon moved into Gemini (1/9) something was growing that was almost bigger than the fire ---The price gouging. Gouging in disasters is not uncommon but this is a huge city at 3.5 million and the county has 20 million people. And people were angry, the rage was palpable, and I would argue very Pluto in Aquarius -- By Saturday the 11th, Moon still in Gemini, north node in Pisces --People started a google document calling out the landlords, naming everyone involved, the jump in prices found on zillow and they had no reservations on public shaming. 

On Saturday, Sunday & Monday every press conference had long shout outs that gougers will be prosecuted. The governor and attorney general again, issued new statements.  Then on January 21 with the Sun heading to oppose Mars, the County DA who saw the citizens built Google Document (no doubt) showed a new level of fierceness.  When I showed the document to an attorney and former prosecutor she said, “Wow.  I have never seen anything like that before.”   Yeah, welcome to Pluto in Aquarius.   Here is the Google Document to get a feel for the citizen effort.

We are only at 1 degree now.   Will Pluto in Aquarius be the cycle of citizen built Google Docs?   Unclear but watch this space.  

One more note.  On the Capricorn report I mentioned to keep your radar on technology including challenging aspects with Pluto and inner planets.   On January 28, Mercury conjunct Pluto.   On this date as well, Venus entered its shadow.  It was reported on the 27^th that a new AI developed in China called DeepSeek caused chaos on US stock market which had a plunge.   These aspects with Pluto need to be watched for sure.

On Feb 7 Venus will sextile Pluto.  There could be healing around technology.   Transformative examples of love.   Stories of values and art, creativity, money and beauty that tap joy.  

Feb 23 – March 1 – Everyone’s direct!

Once Mars stations direct on Feb 23 we have a very short window where no planet is retrograde.   Last year we had several weeks where everyone was flying straight.  This time we are down to just a few days.     Once Venus turns retrograde on March 1st we return to retro land and then on March 14 Mercury turns retro.  Blech. Anyway, make the most of our little forward motion cycle.   The planets may be speaking to us once they feel all unencumbered.

Mar 30:     Neptune first ingress into Aries (14-year transit)

May 24:    Saturn first ingress into Aries (2.5-year transit)

June 9:      Jupiter enters Gemini (1 year transit) 

July 7:       Uranus first ingress into Gemini (7-year transit)

August 7-9 Kite Aspect.  Uranus, Neptune and Pluto trine & sextile each other.  Great flow.  Saturn conjunct Neptune (close not exact).  Mars oppose Saturn.   

Each month I am putting up the bigger astro landscape.  The importance of these transitions into new signs of the outer planets (& Saturn) cannot be overstated. They are the backbeat to every new moon report.    The last time we had all four outer planets transit into new signs within seven months of each other was the 1730s.     More will be revealed and perhaps in March when Neptune enters Aries we’ll start to get an idea what is part of this story.   

In Conclusion, 

Finding our way in Aquarius can be challenging for some folks.  People who by their nature are loners.  Who do not trust groups or other people.  Who probably at the end of the day are best described by the old comedian from a long time ago, Groucho Marx.   Groucho’s quip, “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member”may be an underlying response to many people.  However, the argument for other humans and finding a way to connect to them is important and finding community is critical.   The famous Blue Zones where people live long fruitful and healthy lives is not just because of their diet, it is because they have a community and a sense of belonging.  To get that experience tap Aquarius.   It is here to help.

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more results.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:    How are connecting to others?  How are you finding your groups?  How are you and your friends able to support each other?  Have you outgrown each other?  Is there a new friendship in the offing?   What communities are you tapping?

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are noteworthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  No matter how mundane it arrives, consider it as message.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about your faith?  What focus can you bring that leans into existential or woo-woo nature?    How is your spirituality?  What are you learning?  What are you learning about the significance of prayer or meditation or getting quiet? How are friends and groups offering information that speaks to spirituality?

Feb 3: Mercury trine Jupiter.  Thoughts that feel fresh and unique and are helpful and open doors. 

Feb 3: Mars square Chiron.  Being out there for self, carving a new way feels resisted by the needs of family.   Is there space to do both?

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received.  Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again. What hurdles have popped up involving the seeds you planted on new moon?    We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.   

Focus on:   What actions are you bringing that tap your practical nature?  What focus can you bring to your valuables?  How is your property?   What are you doing that speaks to building something from the ground up?  How are you seeking guidance or inspiration from friends or groups?

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.   How are we perfecting our goals? 

Special focus How are you refining your feelings?   How are you refining your emotions, so they guide you and work for you?  How are you refining your ability to sort through feelings that are wounded and maybe no longer helpful?   How are friends and groups supporting you in this process?   

Focus on:  

Feb 9: Mercury conjunct Sun. What are we learning from groups?  What are we learning about our friendships?  How are we all fitting together? 

Feb 9: Mars trine Saturn.   Hard work and discipline for goals is easy to tap today.   Make it work for you.  

Feb 11: Mercury square Uranus.  Beware of the provocateurs.  Caution should be taken if anyone’s conversation is trying to go big and possibly tossing out the baby with the bathwater.

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually, emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?  

Focus on:   How do we tap our voice? How do we tap our drama?  How can we use the power of theater to help others?   What do our groups tell us that is not in synch with our power or big voice?  Is there a need for a new group?  Or how our friends and groups supporting our vision?  How can we all be heroes?

Feb 14:  Mercury enters Pisces.   A cycle of gentle and fuzzy and creative thinking and conversations.  

Disseminating

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full moon and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:   How are you sharing your strengths in relationships?  How do you find balance?  How are you sharing it?  How do you share your ability to sit across from another person and ‘get them’?  How do they respond?   How are groups and friends supporting you in your relationships?

Special focus:

Feb 18:  Sun enters Pisces

Feb 20:  Mercury square Jupiter.  Thinking, conversations that are too big and perhaps not even factual are problematic.  Try not to fall for it or participate in it.  

Last Quarter Moon Phase

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

What actions are you taking bridge you to something that is ‘foreign’?  How are you acting on your opinions and your philosophies?  How are friends or groups informing you about your opinions?

Focus on:  How are you releasing your greed?  How are you releasing any snobbery that is buried in an insecurity?  How are you releasing any negativity you have around the concept of ambitious?  How are friends and groups supporting you in this release?

Feb 25:  Mercury conjunct Saturn.  Straight thinking, no fluff.  Focused, laser and productive. 

Feb 25: Venus conjunct Saturn.  If love is problematic, the universe will send a message to begin trimming or releasing.  Diets on love, money, beauty and creativity.
