Scorpio New Moon 2020: Dig Deep & Get Rid of Debris

Scorpio New Moon – 2020

By Tracy Cook

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we can get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.

Okay what is this cycle about?    Dig deep into your emotional reserves, clear out the debris and you find the liberating gift of healing.

Scorpio New Moon

23 Scorpio 17

November 14, 2020

9:07pm PST

It could be argued, never has the power of Scorpio been needed more then in 2020, as the Northern Hemisphere has increasing Covid cases and Americans deal with their rattled emotions after a turbulent election cycle plus the pandemic.   Enter Scorpio New Moon.   This 29-day Scorpio lunar cycle launched by the New moon will offer a lot of opportunities for growth and healing.

Scorpio is the second water sign and once again connects us to our emotions.  The first water sign Cancer speaks to ocean tides pulled out and then later flooding back in.  The very process of up and down emotions is part of Cancer make up.   In Scorpio, still water runs deep.  But still water when it is clogged with debris and is stagnated, it is dangerous.  Scorpio who rules plumbing understands we should never confuse the fresh water that is our source with the grey water that is our waste.  If you are stuck, look to see where you are jealous as that will speak to the debris you need to remove.   The antidote to jealousy is healing something deep. How will accessing your own power help you?   This is part of the gift and healing that is Scorpio because when we tap our emotions we accomplish much. Consider the water in a river in a deep canyon funneled through a dam and hydro plant, that deep Scorpio water when harnessed can electrify a whole region.  The power of harnessed emotions is the gift of Scorpio.  Then there is the  rejuvenation power of Scorpio.   Scorpio is associated with the Phoenix/Thunderbird who died and out of the ashes he was reborn.  During this 29-day cycle we may find ourselves pitching from one extreme to the other.   We gather all our energy and tackle something with great vigor while we also turn inward to our emotions, remove debris and then announce, “I’m done” and we move on.

The question is what goal is worth pursuing?  What passion needs to be followed?   What desire needs follow through?   What needs to be discarded?   What debris needs to be jettisoned?    We have to go deep in our psyche and ask what lines up with our growth?   What will bring rejuvenation?

On the New Moon chart, the sun and moon sextile with the three planets that have been a pain in our ass all year: Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto.   In this most extraordinary year, finally Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn bring their toys to the New Moon.   The Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto are ready to play.  This is not to suggest everything will be light and breezy.  There is nothing breezy about Scorpio or Capricorn.   Capricorn cares about things that work and are efficient.  Scorpio responds by digging deep to its desires.

For different reasons, both signs understand we are only on this planet for a limited time.  Capricorn counts the hours and says, “There are 87,600 hours in ten years so between now and 2030 how do you plan on spending those hours?   Scorpio says, “Thanks for the note I’m not wasting my time on ____ any longer, I will start by being focused on ______.”    This awareness is a gift.   Each of the outer planets in aspect with the Sun and Moon will bring information as we contemplate our focus and desires.

Jupiter brings hope, faith and opportunities. There is also good luck that comes with Jupiter.   The 29 days may find us bumping into new ideas or new circles of people that seem ‘foreign’.   Jupiter speaks to education, judges, legal advisors.  We may get a 10,000-foot perspective in areas that prior have been too close for us to understand but now we have moments that expand our vision.

Saturn brings us practicality, structures and support.   This is not airy-fairy support but is deep concrete actions.  There could be someone in authority who steps up and offers guidance.    There is a sense of perfect timing with Saturn.   We may find we are at some place or learn about something important at the right moment.  Saturn encourages us to lean into patience.

Pluto double downs into laser focus.  We have moments where we are extreme about a matter at hand.  We are relentless as we pursue a passion or desire.  It could be as small as finally organizing a junk drawer or perhaps it is finally tackling the paperwork to refinance a loan or fix something at the Department of Motor Vehicles.  It is an excellent energy to use for anything on your To-do list.  Much can be accomplished in the 29 days.  Pluto is ready to serve in deep, solid practical ways.

A Little Caution  Jupiter/Pluto

In the New Moon chart, we still are in the wake of the Jupiter Pluto conjunction that took place on November 12.   This was the third and final time that these planets hooked up.  The story of 2020 when told by historians of astrology will speak to this aspect.   The world had the cold reality (Capricorn) of something big (Jupiter) transforming (Pluto) our lives.   More will be revealed about this final round of Jupiter/Pluto in the mundane world as we move farther from the aspect.  The international implications of the aspect are strong.  In our personal lives this aspect is at 22/23 degrees of Capricorn.  Check your chart for where it falls but for those people who do not know their charts consider if there were any issues that focused your attention around April 4 and June 29 and is there a repeat of themes now?     There may be a collective sigh of relief as well even if it is not for anything specific but just a sense of turning some corner that is only known deep in our psyche.

Neptune

Neptune, the great humanitarian planet is in our 29- day Scorpio lunar journey.   In the chart, Neptune is in a trine aspect with Sun and Moon.    We have the ability to tap into our compassionate nature.   It may be done by our efforts or it may just strike us in some whimsical, mystical way.   The power of forgiveness, walking in another person’s shoes, seeking empathy, tapping our humanitarian side is part of our process for these four weeks.  It may come when we least expect it.  We could be moved by the arts.  We may have a dream that moves us.   Some people will feel connected to cosmic energies more than usual.  Neptune is nuanced it speaks in whispers.   Watch and see what you pick up this cycle.

Neptune Station Direct

November 28, 4:36pm

18 Pisces 09

Neptune ends its retrograde which started on June 22 at 21 degrees of Pisces and is now at 18 Pisces.  For the last five months Neptune has done what it does best during its annual retrograde.  It speaks to us through aspirational dreamy desires.   On some level around the station direct date we may feel united to humanity.  Perhaps we see the best in those who deserve it, but we may also miss the mark and put fuzzy filters on those who need clear eyed focus.   Having the Neptune change of direction in the Scorpio lunar phase supports us to connect to the unworldly part of our place in the universe on our psyche level.   We will not have all the heady answers as to why we are here but  we may have moments where we feel in synch with the universe.

Moon Tangles

Mars turned direct a few days before the New Moon so some of the pressure will begin to lessen.  But still when the Moon is in cardinal signs, it will continue to tangle with Mars, Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn.    Once a week, we have been experiencing these tough two and a half day cycles since July.  We may feel ourselves pulled into the maelstroms.  We could feel like we are fighting stuff alone.   Try to be gentle with self and others on these bumpy days.  Breathe before acting.

11/17 Moon enters Capricorn 8:34 am PST

11/18 Moon enters Aquarius 12:24 am PST

12/01 Moon enters Cancer 7:32pm PST

11/06 Moon enters Leo 4:52am PST

12/10 Moon enters Libra 4:01pm PST

12/13 Moon enters Scorpio 5:58 pm PST

Looking Ahead

Saturn moves into Aquarius on Dec 16 and then on Dec 18 Jupiter moves into Aquarius and finally on Dec 21 a few hours after the Winter Solstice Jupiter conjuncts Saturn in Aquarius.   This launches a new 200-year astrological cycle.    Obviously, none of this takes place in this 29 Day Scorpio lunar cycle and we will talk about it in the Sagittarius report next month.  But we should anticipate a real energy shift next month with emphasis on how we connect with humans and humanitarian causes and issues.    We will be looking at new technology and cyber world and we will be searching for like-minded people as we figure our way through 2021.   It is interesting that we are having this inspired Scorpio cycle to clear out debris that no longer serves and create space for something new.  Then we walk into this very real change of astrological scenery mid-December.  It is safe to say that whatever we feel now will be changed by the time we get to the end of December.

In closing,

There is about 45 days left in 2020 but so much is now behind us with the Jupiter/Pluto aspect completed and Mars no longer retrograde.  We are not out of the woods and as we know Mars was retrograde in Aries in 1988 and the USSR dissolved the next year due in part to seeds planted during the Mars retrograde.   The time before that when Mars was retrograde in Aries was late fall of 1941.  One month after it turned direct and was still in Aries, we had Pearl Harbor.   There is a lot to process these final two months of 2020.   In the meantime, let us focus on clearing out debris, making sure the clear water pipe is not grey water, harness our deep emotions, let any jealousy get cleared out by our own efforts so that we can improve our situation.  Let our  Phoenix rise out of any ashes.   Just know I’ll be doing it over here.

See you in Sag.

The 8 phases

Scorpio New Moon

23 Scorpio 17

November 14, 2020

9:07pm PST

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:   We focus on the deep power that is our emotions.   We clear out emotional debris that no longer serves us.  We jettison stuff that is a waste of our time.  We do actions that empower us.  We internally turn corners and seek rebirth.

Special note:

11/15:  Venus square Pluto.  Values and resources feel overhauled.  Transformations around money and love.

11/15:   Venus square Jupiter.  Values are at odds with beliefs.  Love and beliefs are challenged. Money and beliefs are challenged.

Crescent Moon Phase

November 18

4:12am PST

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What information are you learning that speaks to you about government?  What are you learning about big business?  What are you learning about effective systems that work for you?  What are you learning about abuse of power?

Special Focus

11/19: Venus square Saturn.  Money/Love/Values feel restricted.  Responsibilities feel great.

11/21: Venus enters Scorpio

11/21:  Sun enters Sagittarius

First Quarter Moon

November 21, 2020

8:44pm PST

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.

Focus on:  What actions are you taking that speak to your faith?  What actions are you taking speak to your spirituality?  What actions are cut and dried in your mind but would benefit by nuance?  How are you connecting to something bigger than you?

Special Note

11/23: Mercury trine Neptune.  Language and communication are softened and inspired.  Conversations of faith are uplifting.

Gibbous Moon

November 25,  2020

10:19pm PST

Gibbous:

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.

Focus on:  How are you refining your independence?  How are you refining your ability to be self-determined?  How are you refining your inner warrior to break new ground?

Special focus

11/27: Venus oppose Uranus   Disruption and shock.  Love and money are shaken.  Values feel electrified or electrocuted.

11/28: Neptune station direct 4:36pm PST 18 Pisces 10  (see above)

Full Moon Phase –  Lunar Eclipse

November 30

1:29am

8 Gemini 38

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us.  There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Focus on

How are you communicating?  How are you listening?  How are you getting informed?  How are you learning to pivot?

Special focus

12/1:  Mercury enters Sagittarius

Disseminating

December 4, 2020

12:27am  PDT

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.

Focus on:  How are you sharing your feelings to deepen connections?  How are you deepening your connections to family?   How are you reaching out to those who bring deep emotions like family?

Special focus:

12/5: Venus trine Neptune: Love and money are inspired.  Values lined up with humanity are welcoming.

Last Quarter Moon Phase

December 7, 2020

4:36pm PST

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on:

What actions are you taking that tie up details?  What actions are you taking that address your schedule?  What actions are you taking that empower you by cleaning up loose ends?

Special focus

12/9 Sun square Neptune.  Illusion and disillusioned.   Letting go of blind faith.  Looking inward for spiritual leadership.

12/10: Sun trine Mars

Balsamic Moon Phase

December 11, 2020

1:49 am PST

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on How are you releasing your power?   How are you releasing your black/white nature?  How are you releasing control?

12/13 Mercury square Neptune.  Communication is fuzzy.  Susceptibility to miscommunication and misinformation.  Better to wall up to mis informers.
