Gemini New Moon 2022: Process the Information

Gemini New Moon– 2022

By Tracy Cook

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.

Okay what is this cycle about?   Data has a place and in Gemini we learn from data and pivot.   What new information can help you adapt?

Gemini New Moon

May 30, 2022

4:30apm PDT

9 Gemini 03

Before we welcome Gemini Lunar Month, let’s take a moment and reflect on Taurus eclipse lunar cycle, that as of this writing is in its final hours.    At the end of April when I wrote the report for May, I wrote:

Taurus is values and on this eclipse our values get their bells rung.

 I also wrote:

The chart for the new moon has Sun/Moon conjunct Uranus and sextile Mars which are both very dynamic energies.  Uranus brings things in fast like a lightning strike.  During this 29-day lunar month we should anticipate things are one way and then they are another in a nano second.   As we have been discussing since Uranus moved into Taurus in 2018, Uranus is not its most comfortable in the sign Taurus since Uranus likes changes and mixing things up while Taurus likes holding on.  But Uranus is brilliant, and Taurus likes to construct so there is opportunity to rethink and invent something real and practical that makes sense, this is a gift.   Watch what comes up out of the blue.   Instead of being shocked and frozen how can you move to find an innovative solution?

In the lunar cycle of the Taurus Eclipse and a week following the Scorpio lunar eclipse, we had the murders at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas.    Eclipses can be rough, and they take six months to unfold.  We return to eclipse season in October and November.   I cannot tell you for certain what will be the response from the mass shooting at Robb Elementary, but I can tell you that there is power in it and the fact that the partner eclipses are in fall, happening near an election may have meaning.    We will have to see.  But astrologers in the future will look at this event and speak of the eclipses, that is for sure.

Welcome to Gemini Lunar Month

The launch of Gemini New moon is the launch of the 29-day cycle where we get our ‘processor’ on.   The third sign of the zodiac is the first air sign.  In Aries the first fire sign we come out into the world, “Here I am”.  In Taurus, the first earth sign we touch our land, “I live here.”  In Gemini we look around and think, “Hey, who are you?”   Gemini rules siblings, neighborhoods, and communication.    “Hm, that gal is my sister?”  “What does that mean?”   Gemini asks tons of questions and Ping ponging on the meaning of the answers.   Gemini lives for data.     Like bees flying in air, circulating pollen in gardens, Gemini distributes information.      Gemini and its ruling planet Mercury are tied to writers and writings.   All forms of writing from blogs to journalism to poems to novels.   Gemini rules the hands and the faster they move the better says Gemini.

However, underneath all that communication and fact finding, and questions, is arguably the greatest gift of Gemini – the ability to pivot.   Gemini is the first mutable (Virgo, Sag, Pisces are the other three) and understands the value in making changes.    In the previous sign the pitfall of Taurus is staying too rigid, too stuck.  Now in Gemini it is all about movement and making shifts.    What we know from Darwin and evolution is that if a species does not adapt, it dies.  Of course, the pitfall to Gemini is pivoting so much there is no commitment.   Or getting lost in the data so much that the brain tries to outthink the heart and soul.   Also, another pitfall, steer far away from gossip and make sure you and others are not just lying or passing on lies.   Double check the ‘facts’ before you make any conclusions.

During this 29 day cycle a lot of facts and data will come up for all of us.   We will learn this thing and that thing.   Some of it will make sense and some of it could just be overwhelming.   If we are alert, we will take the time to ask ourselves upon learning information if it is time to pivot on something?   What do we need to adapt?

The chart of the Gemini New moon has dynamic aspects of Mars and Jupiter who are in conjunction and both in Aries sextile Moon and Sun in Gemini.   Mercury the ruling planet of Gemini is retrograde in Taurus and makes a close square with Saturn.    Let’s unpack all this:

Mars & Jupiter in Aries on top of each other 24 hours before the new moon is a big influence for the chart and the 29-day cycle.   Everything about this aspect is BIG. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the zodiac.  Mars’s home sign is in Aries, so he has got his engines on.    Having the two of them together is ready for lift off.   Or for those in America who follow Indy 500 – it is a time of “Start your engines.” Although the exact aspect will have passed the day before the new moon chart it is still an influence.   Aries is about number one.  Independence.   “If you aren’t going to fix it, then I will” says Mars and Jupiter in Aries.  Neither have patience for sitting around in resentment or even bitterness, they just want to fix stuff now.   The two of them in sextile with the Sun and Moon in the New moon chart speaks to opportunities of new thinking that will break new ground.  New thinking scratches a new itch that shows personal leadership, personal agency to take care of self and goals in a new way.   Watch the energy around you and see if you pick up on people, maybe people who have been staid getting up and doing stuff.   You may be inspired and you may inspire them.

At the same time, we have a completely different experience with Saturn and Mercury.    Things can sometimes get weird when planets slow down, and planets turn retrograde.   In the case of Mercury and Saturn, Mercury stationing direct on June 3 and the very next day on June 4 Saturn turns retrograde.   That would be fine and technically it is fine but there is an extra zester because just before the two of them make their moves they get within one degree of a perfect square.   Discretion and nuanced thinking is CRITICAL.  While there will be a lot of data flying for the 29-day cycle and it may be accurate, and it may be sad, it important to remember you do not need to jump on all of it.   This of course is counter to the Mars and Jupiter energy that wants to take care of everything now.   Saturn says hold on.   Even if it is rough there is a time for assessment.

Mercury Retrograde

April 26:   Mercury shadow begins

May 10 4:37am PDT:  Mercury station retrograde 4 Gemini 52

May 22:  Mercury re-enters Taurus

June 3 1:00am PDT Mercury station direct 26 Taurus 5

June 13 Mercury enters Gemini

June 18:  Mercury shadow ends

As Mercury unwinds from the retrograde, we all may learn some stuff that will change our thinking since it turned retrograde on May 10th and even going back to the shadow point on April 26.

What data is lapping up on our shores now that informs us of something new?  How does it impact our thinking?

When Mercury returns to Gemini on June 13th, we will have been about halfway through our Gemini lunar month.   This is a good time to take a breath.

If the news you learn is sad or heart breaking, where do you want to focus your time (Saturn word)?

There should feel like some new mental landscapes after June 18.    Which may be welcoming.

Give yourself mental diets.  Do you have to watch wall to wall news?  Can you put down your screens and catch up with a friend or family?

Remember during Mercury in Gemini (retrogrades included) are periods when we benefit by rebooting our brains.   Take the 13th to get quiet.   Don’t worry your phone and laptop will be right where you left them, and you can proceed on the 14th.

Saturn Retrograde

June 4

2:46pm PDT

25 Aquarius 25.

October 23, 2022

3:22pm PDT

Saturn direct

18 Aquarius 35

Saturn enters Pisces

March 7, 2023

Saturn went into Aquarius right when the world went into lockdown in March of 2020.   Obviously, we are still impacted and still processing it all, but we have learned and continue to learn the importance of community, friendships, and our circles.   We are not done with our lessons.  But it should be noted this is THE last Saturn retrograde in Aquarius because next March it enters Pisces for those lessons (lord, take the wheel please!).   People who have been feeling lonely should take this retrograde to make new friends, join some groups.  Given the retrograde is launching in this lunar month where we lean into our ability to adapt and change, well, perhaps the universe is giving us the impetus to get out of our own way if our thinking is “I’m not a joiner”.  Maybe you start with something easy like a book club.  Some place you show up in person or on zoom and break figuratively bread with others.   We have a lot in front of us before Saturn moves into Pisces and remember we will not have another Saturn retrograde in Aquarius until 2050.  If you have issues around community now, what will it look like then?

Neptune Retrograde

June 28, 2022

12:54am PDT

25 Pisces 26

Neptune enters shadow

March 7, 2022

Neptune stations direct

December 3, 2022

22 Pisces 38

Neptune exits shadow

March 24 2023

Neptune spends half of every year retrograde.    In 2011 Neptune entered Pisces and in 2025 it will have its first entry into Aries.      When Neptune enters Aries, it will be part of a team of important astrological changes.   Three of the generational planets will all transit into new signs ushering in a big astrology era.  In 2023 Pluto goes into revolutionary Aquarius, in 2025 Neptune enters Aries and in 2026 Uranus moves into Gemini.   There is now and then there will be then.  It will be a world of difference.   We will talk about it a lot going forward.  However, now as Neptune is still in its home sign of Pisces, it is digging into matters that are humanitarian, artistic, spiritual, both traditional and metaphysical.  The dream state is very active.   We benefit by getting the most out of these Neptune retrogrades.   Reflecting on our place in humanity.  How do we connect to others?   Do we need to ask for help?  Do we need to offer help?   During the Neptune retrograde we can feel overwhelmed and want to escape.  Some may rely on addictions and booze.   Or are we stuck in guilt?    Kindness goes far to others and self.   Helping others even small can assuage overwhelming feelings.   Getting lost in movies and music or researching metaphysics can be satisfying.

Let’s see what we learn about our place in the big wide world and how we connect to the cosmos between now and December when it stations direct.

In conclusion,

There are lot of astrology influences these 29 cycles to make moves and changes that can be productive.  At the same time, we don’t need to change EVERYTHING.   Be smart about your changes.  Be smart about the data you receive.   Even if some of the information you receive is difficult try to elevate it.   Again, steer far away from gossip Double check your facts and pivot!

This planetary era is major and we will see it in

The 8 phases

Taurus New Moon

Solar Eclipse

9 Gemini 03

May 30, 2022

4:30am PDT

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:     How do you gather information?  How do you communicate?  How do you share data without dipping into gossip?  How can you refine your thinking?  What new information are you learning?  How are you learning to adapt and pivot?   What rigid thinking needs to adapt so that it is in alignment with what you want?

Special note:

6/3 Mercury station direct 1am PDT 26 Taurus 05 (see above)

6/4 Saturn station retrograde 25 Aquarius 15 (see above)

Crescent Moon Phase

June 3, 2022

7:37am PDT

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about family?   How does family influence your thinking?  What are you learning about your emotions?  How do your emotions move your thinking?  What happens to facts when emotions are triggered?  What happens to emotions when thinking engine is on?

Special Focus

6/6: Sun sextile Chiron.   We continue to learn independence and be our own agent.   What new information or communication is landing that strengthens your independence.

First Quarter Moon

June 7, 2022

7:48am  PDT

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.

Focus on:  What actions are you taking that need refining?  What actions are you taking that tap discernment?  What actions are you taking that enhance your schedule and calendar?

Special Note

6/10: Mercury trine Pluto.  Deep thinking that questions structures that may or may not be working.   Thoughts that help shed that which no longer serves.

Gibbous Moon

June 10, 2022

10:44 pm PDT

Gibbous:

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.

Focus on:  What is going on with your sex life?  What is going on with shared resources like money, investments or debt and taxes?  Where do you need to drill down?  Where do you need more information and research?

Special focus

6/11: Mercury conjunct Uranus.  Brilliant and practical thinking.  Necessity is the mother of invention is true today.

Full Moon Phase

23 Sag 25

June 14, 2022

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually, emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us.  There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Focus on

What is going on with truth?  How are you tapping it?  In a world of facts, facts, facts, where is the truth?   Where are you tapping beliefs?   What is the bigger picture and higher landscape?  How do you tap education?

Special focus

6/15: Mars conjunct Chiron.  Independence and seeing new opportunities, gets a bolt of energy.

6/16: Sun trine Saturn.  Building new structures starts with new thoughts.   Inspired thinking could open new work and career opportunities.

6/16: Venus conjunct North Node.  A big value forward day.  Money and love get our attention.   Who gets us?

6/16: Sun square Neptune.   Confusion, bewilderment.   Facts may not be facts.   Take things slow.

Disseminating

June 17,  2022

9:15am PDT

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.

Focus on:  How are you sharing your friends?  How are you sharing your skills within a group?  How are you sharing the power of collective work?   What group taps your values?

Special focus:

6/18: Venus square Saturn.   Values and money feel tweaked.  Love feels off.  Coldness.   Somber.

6/18: Venus sextile Neptune.    Love gets something small and inspiring.   The universe may be hearing us.

Last Quarter Moon Phase

June 20, 2022

8:10pm PDT

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on:

What actions are you taking that speak to your faith?  What actions are you taking that tap your humanitarianism?  How are you connecting to something that is bigger to you?

Special focus

6/20: Mercury sextile Jupiter.   Thinking broadens out.  Thinking from others, perhaps “foreign” are supportive.

6/21: Venus trine Pluto.  Love, money and values get revived.  Letting go is easier.  Releasing that which is not love is easy.

6/21 Sun enters Cancer.  Summer arrives.

6/22: Venus enters Gemini

Balsamic Moon Phase

June 24, 2022

5:10pm PDT

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on How are you releasing stubbornness?  How are you releasing rigidity? How are you releasing stick-in-the-mudness?  How are you releasing “controlling”?

Special focus:

6/27 Mercury sextile Chiron.  Thinking that feels breakthrough, independence is highlighted.

6/27 Mars sextile Saturn.  Our energy to build up new structures is emphasized.

6/28 Neptune station retrograde 25 Pisces 27 (see above)

6/28 Sun square Jupiter.   Beliefs feel in conflict with emotions and family.   How to find a balance when everything is so big?

6/28 Venus sextile Jupiter.  Resources and values get an added boost.  Bridging new groups is supported by love and money.
