Capricorn New Moon 2019: Focused and Disciplined

CAPRICORN NEW MOON 2019

By Tracy Cook

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle

When we draft a chart for the new moon we can get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.

Okay what is this cycle about?Get pragmatic.  Get focused. Get disciplined.  Cut out the fuzzy but be inspired.  Find your inner antenna and your inner CEO and turn them both on.

Capricorn New Moon

January 5, 2019 8:26pm EST

15 Cap 25

We start off 2019 with a (partial) solar eclipse on this Capricorn New Moon, which is the first of five eclipses for the year.   The second eclipse will be lunar and will take place on the full moon January 21.

The Capricorn new moon can take place anytime between December 21 and January 19th.   The fact that this one is hitting the first weekend of 2019 will no doubt activate a lot of desire for new beginnings.   Even the people who are ho-hum about the new years could feel an extra bounce in their step for 2019.

The new moon chart has Sun, Moon, Saturn & Pluto all on top of each other and although Mercury is not bearing down on the new moon it is also in Capricorn.     Let’s all get on the same page and agree that is a lot of Capricorn!

First thing to know, Saturn, the ruling planet of Capricorn has been in its home sign since Dec 2017 and will stay in Cap until late 2020.  In general this has got us all feeling the importance of accomplishing stuff and we have little appetite for fuzzy nonsense.   Our inner compass is honing in on that which is ‘real’ or concrete.   False and shallow is no bueno and we are getting tired of it.

As we discussed, Saturn is on top of the Sun and Moon (conjunction) and he won’t do it again on a Capricorn New moon until 2049.   That is 30 years.    Not exactly tomorrow, right?   So why don’t we do ourselves a favor and dig in and use the Saturn energy for the next 29 day lunar cycle to its full advantage?

Also, Saturn is beginning its long slog for Pluto.  The conjunction between Saturn and Pluto will take place next year on January 12, 2020.  Talking straight up --these are bumpy times and we are about to get bumpier as we start feeling the pressure of these two paradigm- shifting planets through 2019 and the ramifications of the aspect will last long after 2020.   It takes a little over thirty years for Saturn to hook up with Pluto.  There is a desire to rein things in and push back with law & order.     Previous conjunctions were October 1914 and onset of WW1.  August 1947 – Cold War and the last time was November 1982 – Reaganomics. We will talk more about Saturn/Pluto as the year unfolds since it is a big aspect but take note during this new moon and the 29-day Capricorn lunar cycle where you feel or observe areas of your life that need to be rein in.  And areas of your life that need your inner boss or inner CEO to come out and take care of business.   It could be your career, your health, your family, your finances—your future.  Whatever it is, bring out your inner boss and put him or her on task.

This is not an emotional 29 days.  It is a pragmatic no-nonsense cycle.   With a sober eye we look at our world for practical solutions to get something done.   We are methodical.   During these 29 days consider:  What will get you what you need?   Capricorn is about hierarchy and accomplishments.  Saturn knows there are NO short cuts and there is value in hard work, patience and discipline.

Where do you need discipline?

What is going to take time and focus?

Where is it time to focus on long- term goals?

Where do you need to tell yourself to just keep going?

This cycle we are aware that our “to-do “list is generated by something inside us that is telling us ‘It is time to accomplish ____”.  “Or take care of ______.”    Half ass stuff will annoy all year and although it brings discipline and hard work on our part ---we know in the end this is the gift of Saturn in Capricorn because it brings accomplishment.

There is one bugaboo that can keep us from our goals and that’s low self-esteem or lacking self- confidence.   Capricorn, when it is misbehaving, will hide its insecurity with an air of indifference or “I don’t care.”   But behind that wall is a fear that the thing that they would like to accomplish is out of their grasp.  Instead of owning it they hide behind, ‘I’m above it all’.   This is where we get the gift of Pluto conjunct the New Moon chart.   Pluto in Capricorn is drilling on all of us humans, that systems are not working and the broken needs to be taken down to the bolts and rebuilt.  Global politics speaks of Pluto in Capricorn’s long journey (2008 -2024).     On this New Moon and lunar cycle we should expect to see more systems broken in both global and perhaps personal areas.   If you can’t get a handle on something then go down deep and ask how is your insecurity in the mix?  How is there a kernel of fear holding you back?   Like the story of the Princess and the Pea---no matter how many mattresses you put on top of it, you can’t rest because there is a ‘pea’ causing you to toss and turn.  Drill down and go deep on your insecurity and ask, “What needs to transform so I am not my own worst enemy?”     From that position see if you get some answers that help rebuild your own inner systems.

Neptune and Jupiter are semi sextile the New Moon which is helpful because it would be astrological malpractice to not mention that the Capricorn lunar cycle can stir up ennui, depression or loneliness during the 29 day cycle.    When it comes up, acknowledge it but also do an action on your ‘To-Do” list no matter how small.   Neptune and Jupiter remind us the importance of worlds that are greater than our own little circle.  There is something bigger than us but it is vital to feel a sense of accomplishment no matter how small. Pull out your ‘to-do’ list every day.

Uranus Direct

January 7, 3:36am EST

28 Aries 36

Uranus is retrograde for about five months every year so when it stations direct or retrograde it is not a big deal. However, this time something different is going on.   Uranus is the planet of great disruptions.   Late last spring Uranus moved into Taurus where it began its 7-8 year cycle.   Then in August it turned retrograde and eventually returned to Aries.  The return to Aries was asking all of us to find our inner warrior one more time.   Aries desire to survive is paramount.   The last time Uranus was retrograde in Aries, before it made its final move into Taurus, was August 1934 – January 1935.  How many people felt compelled at that time to move?  Something in them said “My survival and my family’s survival means we need to do something.”   Obviously, people who had a high antenna knew they needed to get out of Europe.  In America others took their families out of the Dustbowl.  All around the world people were shifting and moving.  A lot went from rural to urban.     Now it is our time to be in the hopper, Uranus changing direction could send beeps to each of us.   Be aware of any thoughts or insights or feelings that you need to do something and put it on the fast track.  It could be important.  Uranus will return to Taurus on March 9 where it will stay until 2025.  We will talk a lot more about Uranus in Taurus going forward.  But you should know that Artificial Intelligence will move far and wide during the next seven years and will impact the work place.   Food will also be impacted with important changes and fluxes as will real estate.  Stock Markets will go for huge rides and currency will be impacted.   If you get any sense of what your plan B needs to be during these final months of Uranus in Aries consider it as it might turn into plan A between now and 2025. Finally, there is one area that will certainly be front and center during this period:  Climate Change.   We crossed the Rubicon some time ago but for many of us this final retrograde of Uranus (since August) brought a new awareness and fear that we need to do something in our personal lives and globally in the face of climate changes.  Where are you living?  How will it be impacted?  How are you feeling compelled to protect Earth?   We will see and talk more about Uranus in Taurus as we slog it out together in the coming years.

One more note about Uranus changing direction. Uranus does not wait long after that final direct motion to show what he is about.  Case in point in December 2010 Uranus turned direct having retrograded back into Pisces.  Once it turned direct it was heading for Aries, how did it show up?  One month after turning direct a street vendor set himself on fire and the Arab Spring was launched.  We still continue to deal with the ramifications of  what took place then in Northern Africa.   Watch what comes up after Uranus turns direct for a hint about where we are heading.

Jupiter & Neptune

January 13, 2019

1:57 pm EST

There will be three exact squares this year between Jupiter and Neptune (Jan 13, June 16 and Sept 21).   This is a call back to 2010 when Jupiter and Neptune were in conjunction.  On the personal front go back to 2010 and see if anything comes up from then that now needs fresh eyes.    Globally speaking, too much optimism will be squashed by disillusion.   We all need to avoid getting caught up in some kind of righteous undertow.  Things will dissolve in front of the world’s eyes.   Zealots and zealotry could be problematic.  When or if your own beliefs get shaken then going in deep and finding a connection to your own maker will be critical.   It is interesting that the first hit takes place during this super pragmatic Capricorn lunar phase.   Although this aspect is tough it does have the gift of creativity and the ability to build bridges to other circles.   Keep the accent on humanitarianism and that should help.  Just don’t get lost too far in any area.

Saturn & Neptune

January 31 9:14am

Another aspect that will come up three times in 2019 is Saturn sextile Neptune.  The first hit is January 31 followed by June 18 & Nov 8.   This is a small aspect but still carries a punch and is a nice antidote to the Jupiter/Neptune squares all year.   Saturn and Neptune will bring opportunities to help build upon dreams.  Neptune in Pisces wants everyone to get along and the world to sing songs and paint and draw and be in zen ---every day.  Of course that is impossible.   However, Saturn who loves a good challenge and is a terrific worker will step in and construct with Neptune to provide some good.   There will be a streak of goodness somewhere which is life affirming.

Lunar Eclipse Super Moon

00 Leo 58 (Moon)

00 Aquarius 58 (Sun)

Jan 21 12:15am EST

The full moon lunar eclipse will have its own centrifugal force half way through the 29 -day cycle.   This full moon is already getting some attention with its King of Thrones name “Super Blood Wolf Moon.”  Yes it is a super moon, there are three in 2019 (Feb 19 and March 21). Super moons are closest to earth and make it appear bigger than usual (Feb 19 will be the biggest).  The blood moon is red (thus the name blood) and it will be seen in the Americas.    It is called Wolf because Native Americans who tracked full moons noted that this one appeared when wolves howled for food.

The Full moon opposes a square between Mercury and Uranus, which speaks to miscommunication and real surprises that no one saw coming.  Computers, social media and new technology could have a major fizzle.    Airlines and any Nasa/Space X launches could be troublesome.  Supermoons are associated with earthquakes.  Leo Moon speaks to being a hero and bravery and a willingness to put self out there.   It is a significant eclipse and quite a way to start off the new year, there may be something in it for all of to get our attention and help as we consider where we are heading in the future. It could just remind us that hiding in the background and letting others being the ‘star’ works a lot of the time but not ALL the time.   Where are you supposed to stand up and stand out?    Let the full moon speak to you like the wolf ---

In Conclusion:

Please take this 29 -day cycle to accomplish a lot on your ‘to-do’ list.    Yes, it will feel good to get stuff done but more to the point is it will help you sort through your spot in the world in the future.    What you are doing now will make sense later.    You may not know it but it will all come clear in the next couple years.   See you next month in Aquarius.

The 8 phases

Capricorn New Moon

January 5, 2019

8: 26pm EST

15 Cap 25

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:  Get pragmatic. Get focused. Get disciplined.  Cut out the fuzzy but be inspired.  Find your inner antenna and your inner CEO and turn them both on.   Don’t let grass grow under your feet as you see plans for your future emerge.   No time for tears all time for thoughtful sustainable actions.

Special focus

1/7 (3:36am) Uranus turns direct 28 Aries 36  (See Above)

1/7 Venus enters Sag

1/8 Mercury Square Mars.  Holding on to the status quo thinking rubs against actions and desires to break new ground.  Conflicted energies bring what?

Crescent Moon Phase

January 10 12:11am EST

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything. Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What information are you learning about your faith?  What are you learning about religion?  What are learning about being mystical?  How are you being informed about humanitarian matters?   How does all of this speak to your goals and sense of discipline?

Special Focus

1/11 Sun conjunct Pluto- Annual aspect where do we go deep on something that needs to be transformed.  What is it? What are we going to do to let something die and let something new be born?

1/13: Mercury conjunct Saturn.   Hard, practical thinking will be focused on getting results.   Not a warm and cozy day.

1/13: Jupiter Square Neptune.  (See above)

First Quarter Moon

January 14 1:45am EST

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects. Some independence may need to be exerted.

Focus on: What actions can you take that support the seeds you planted on new moon?   What actions can you take that speak to your own survival?  What part of you needs to be ‘out there’ in order to survive?  What new path are you ready to begin?

Gibbous Moon

January 17 5:35pm EST

Gibbous:

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.

Focus on:

How are you refining your communication?  How are you refining your thinking?  How are you refining your dexterity?   How are you refining your adaptability?

Special focus:

1/18: Venus Trine Mars.  Values and actions based on values are in synch.

1/18: Mercury conjunct Pluto.  Deep and penetrating conversations that can be distilled down to power and transformation.

1/18: Sun Square Uranus.  Biannual aspect that focuses on something ‘stuck’ that needs a breakthrough change and something that needs to break out but would benefit by new structure.

1/20: Sun enters Aquarius.

1/20 Venus square Neptune.   The appearance of loss shakes values.  Creativity soothes wounds.

Full Moon Phase

Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse

January 21 12:15pm

00 Leo 51

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Go to blog for full moon report.

http://tracyastrosalon.blogspot.com/

Focus onHow are you connecting with your strength?  How are you connecting  with your pride?  How are you connecting with courage?  How are you connecting with your inner theatrical landscape?  How are breaking out of shy?

Special focus

1/21:  Mars Square Saturn.   Actions feel thwarted by some type of wet blanket.  Re-Tool.  Re-think. Re-purpose.

1/22 Venus conjunct Jupiter.  Big Love. Big Money.   Values feel optimistic.   Maybe a bit too big?  Enjoy but be measured.

1/23: Mercury square Uranus . Shock and awe.  Communication out of the blue.  Technology fizzles.   Break throughs or break outs that may hurt.

1/23: Mercury enters Aquarius.

Disseminating

January 24 5:07am.  7:00pm EST

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.  And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.

Focus on:  How are you sharing your detailed thinking?  How are you sharing your ability to be focused on the micro details? How are you sharing, “God is in the Details”?

1/24: Mars trine Jupiter.  Hope and enthusiasm funnels actions.  Actions in alignment with beliefs.

Last Quarter Moon Phase

January 27 4:10pm  EST

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense. And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living  “The serenity prayer”

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on:

What actions are you taking that speak to your power? What actions are you taking that speak to ability to die and be re-born? What needs to transform in order for you to reach your goals?  What tasks have been alluding you but can now take place with new power and new transformation?

Special Focus:

1/29: Sun conjunct Mercury.  Brilliant thinking.  Finding like -minded persons who are in synch with each other. Circles expand with new connections.

Balsamic Moon Phase

January 31, 2019

9:06pm EST

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on How are you releasing your beliefs?  How are you releasing your ‘big opinions’?  How are you releasing your prejudicial thinking?  How are you releasing your ‘know-it-all’?

Special Focus:

1/31:  Saturn sextile Neptune.  (see above)

2/1: Mars Square Pluto.  Warriors conflict with radicals.  Breaking new ground versus holding the ground.   Status quo versus new territory.   Get out of the way, there may be a fight.

2/2:  Venus Trine Uranus.  New encounters enhance values.  Breaking out to new groups supports finances and love.

2/3: Venus enters Capricorn

February 4, 2019  4:03pm EST 15 Aquarius 45
