Gemini New Moon 2025: The Art of The Pivot

Gemini New Moon– 2025

By Tracy Cook

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.

Okay what is this cycle about?    How are you changing when your ground game is changing?   Do you understand the power of adapting?

Gemini New Moon

May 26, 2025

8:02pm PDT

6 Gemini 05

Welcome to Gemini Lunar Month.

Are you ready to get movin’?   Earth bound Taurus is over.  Airy Gemini is now.   We all are playing with our busy box during the 29-day Gemini cycle.   Pull this lever, twist that knob, our curiosity is high in Gemini, and it leads us into all kinds of places, people and situations.    This is the cycle where we mix-it-up!

Duality

Gemini’s Greek myth is of twin brothers with different fathers.  One father a god and the other a mortal. Because they have different temperaments and different opinions, they each choose different decisions.  When the mortal twin died his brother asked to share his own immortality.  The request was granted, and they are tied together for eternity.

People with a Sun in Gemini live this duality.   Their inner twins are always debating.  “Oh, you are doing that?  Interesting, I think I would do this.”   Compare and contrast is part of the Gemini process.  They need to talk about their thoughts with friends, colleagues and anyone who can offer an opinion.  A common Gemini phrase is “Do you know what I mean?”  Connecting is critical for Gemini.  As the first air sign, Gemini is in the relating business.    They are always looking for their “twin” to talk stuff down.   During this 29-day lunar month we will be out and about, looking, sharing, processing all kind of info.  We are in the connecting business and will be wanting to get feedback from a 'twin'.

The Great Pivot

For all our processing, this is not necessarily the lunar month of commitment given the Gemini energy is likely to say yes and then say no.  They may be clear, “Yes I will be there.”   And then they send the text, “Hey something came up.”   It can be frustrating dealing with Gemini’s legendary fickleness.   But there is something valuable for all of us to glean during this cycle, we learn one of Gemini’s greatest skills---the pivot.

Pivoting is how we adapt. Charles Darwin was big on pivoting or as he said, “Adapt or die.” Sure, being fickle (and or shallow) can be rife with pitfalls but Gemini’s ability to be flexible with on-the-ground changes is critical to survival.    Watch what comes up these 29 days.  Will you be asked to be spontaneous?  How will you be flexible?  Can you adapt without much drama?  There will, no doubt, be a gift with your pivot.  Of course, you are strengthening your skill to think on your feet, which can serve you long after the Gemini lunar month has concluded.   Siblings and neighbors, which are also in the Gemini domain, may be significant players this month.   How will they bring out your flexibility?

Fresh and New

The chart for this Gemini new moon has a strong Saturn, Neptune and Pluto presence given Gemini’s ruling planet Mercury is in aspect with all three planets (along with sun and moon).   Because Saturn and Neptune just moved into Aries and Pluto’s entry into Aquarius only happened five months ago, these three are still getting their ‘new’ on.   The fact that they are experiencing a freshness and the first planet all three are talking to at the same time is Mercury, in the chart of Gemini, well it is very auspicious.  The universe is conspiring for new thinking.   We could find ourselves connecting something that maybe has been hiding in plain sight but now we see it with different eyes.   It is as if our inner twin is waking us up.

Additionally, Mercury and Uranus hooked up at the end of Taurus on May 24.   By the time of the new moon, Mercury has moved into Gemini but is still lingering close to Uranus which suggests we have real opportunities for sparks of creativity and novelty in our thinking & ways of expressing ourselves.  Mental lightning bolts could pop up all month.

One other note.  It seems like Mercury might be paving the way for Uranus, who after seven years, is leaving dense Taurus for light and airy Gemini in July.   It is almost as if Mercury is saying, “Hey Uranus, bring your electricity now, so we can let everyone know what is starting next month”.   It is likely there will be stories in the news of brilliance, shock and revolutionary concepts this cycle.

Because Pluto is in Aquarius, a lot of this fresh thinking will be our adapting through friends, neighbors and people we consider part of our communities.   We will like the flow, but we crave more depth and insight, and we’ll ask more questions.   Maybe we learn new things about friends that makes us go “ahh”.  Pluto in the mix with Saturn suggests some kind of new building within community may also be in play.

Intellectual Vs Emotional……. and Jupiter

In general, Gemini lunar months are more intellectual than emotional.   But this lunar cycle is a bit different.  Yes, it’s long on thinking versus emoting.   However, on June 8, Mercury enters Cancer activating thoughts that are sentimental or cozy.  Then there is Jupiter.    Jupiter, the biggest planet of the zodiac with the greatest gravitational pull and who knows how to suck oxygen out of any room, will be moving into emotional Cancer on June 9th.   Jupiter will then have two important aspects on the 15th and 18th.

On the 15th, we get the final round of Jupiter square Saturn.   This aspect started last August, with a second hit in December.  In the USA, this aspect is tied to the presidential race and Donald Trump win.  In round one and two, the signs activated were water Pisces and air Gemini.  Now in this final round we have fire Aries and water Cancer.   Something hot and steamy will grab headlines.  It may involve politics, or it may not.  It probably will be big.   When Cancer and Aries misbehave, they both can be petty.   There could be something disappointing that activates an angry response.  However, keeping cool is a strength of Saturn and finding philosophy is the work of Jupiter.   For people who have planets at zero, one and two degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn this tension could be more profound for you than the hits last year in August in December.  Given this is all happening in the Gemini, remember you will probably benefit if you ask, “How do I need to adapt, pivot or flex?

On June 18th Jupiter makes a square with Neptune.  This aspect is interesting.  The last time Jupiter squared Neptune was in 2019 which it did three times in mid Pisces and Sagittarius.    Now we have only one exact hit and like Saturn above, it involves Cancer & Aries. Given Neptune has just moved into Aries and has not had any outer planet aspects, it is hard to say what this square will present. It is an expansion of emotions meets something mystical, psychological and unworldly.      The last time Neptune was in Aries was 1861.   Neptune is not great for reality checks; it is more in the business of inspiring people than a proper accounting and assessment.  Jupiter can go long in big ideas and big enthusiasm but in Cancer happy emotions can be, too big or crabby emotions, too dire.   Finding the middle is very challenging.   In an ideal world Saturn who is also in relationship with Neptune and Jupiter will mute any of the extreme feelings.   But for sure, between June 9 and June 18, things could be emotional and janky.

Mars

So Mars will be bringing his weapons of war and actions-of-good to this lunar cycle. On June 15 Mars squares Uranus.  This is usually a once-a-year aspect, and the last time was in March of 2024 when Mars was in Aquarius.  Now Mars is in big, bold, dramatic Leo.  The fact this is taking place around the Jupiter/Saturn/Neptune aspects suggest Mars may be some sort of catalyst.   Again, there will probably be a big news event.  On the personal level we may want to be careful with our driving or getting pulled into something that is provocative and has no goal.

Luckily, on June 17 Mars enters Virgo, another intellectual sign also ruled by Mercury.   Once Mars moves into Virgo it finally exits its  retrograde (by sign) that tied up most of last year and this year.   Then on June 22 it sextiles Jupiter which could free up some of the harsher feelings that people may be harboring.   Mars in Virgo signals a six-week productive period of tying up lose ends, getting super focused on health matters and clearing up household challenges that need some focus and follow up.

And Then There is Chiron and Eris

So, Chiron and Eris are our new planetoids.   Chiron was discovered in 1977 and Eris in 2005.  Believe it or not, 50 years ago and 20 years ago are considered still ‘new’.    Once a planet arrives in the scene it takes a while for astrologers to figure out what this planet is all about.   In my case, it was about thirty years ago I started to research and incorporate Chiron in chart interpretation.   As for Eris I am only just now researching and when I say now I mean this year.  Having said that, on May 26, Chiron will be conjunct with Eris and will do it two more times (October 8, March 19)  but its influence is way longer.   Everyone alive on planet earth has Eris in Aries.  Eris is the goddess of chaos, discord and strife… she is a shit starter.  But it is not without reason.   Just sayin’.   Chiron is the wounded healer where we keep trying to fix stuff and in doing it, we seem to keep the wound fresh.  But and this is a big but, with Chiron we do help others not make our same mistakes.    Having these two join up will be notable and I am sure there will be some news event.   I’m not sure how this is going to unfold but I encourage you to research both Chiron and Eris in your own chart.   For more information I have written a post with some good links.   In the meantime, watch this space.

The Firsts

With all these planets in new signs we are experience the first round of aspects that happen every year.    We will get informed in some manner on the nature of these new planetary ingresses when we watch the inner planets connections.    Putting these dates on your radar:

5/27: Mercury trine Pluto (03 AQ 41) sharp insights.  Ability to clear away debris thinking.  Deep conversations.  Shedding and gaining insights.  (This did occur in June 2024)

6/9: Mercury square Saturn (00 AR 59) Doing hard work for self is up against thoughts of family and or childhood patterns.

6/9: Venus square Pluto (3 AQ 31) Values that are stubborn may conflict with friends and community (this did occur May 2024)

6/9: Mercury square Neptune (02 AR 00).  Fuzzy thoughts that could be too emotional.

6/22: Sun square Saturn (01 AR 35).  Cozy emotions versus hard personal responsibility.   Family versus self.  Where is the middle?

6/22: Mars sextile Jupiter (02 CA 51) Actions based on philosophy excel.

6/23: Sun square Neptune (02 AR 08) Sentimental and emotional versus desires for break outs.    Water versus fire.   Is there a way to harness both even in conflict?

6/24: Sun conjunct Jupiter (03 CA 21).  Family, cozy, childhood, sentimental, prickly emotions and gooey emotions.  It all feels big.

Our 2025 Landscape Era

As a reminder here’s what is our 2025

Mar 30:     Neptune first ingress into Aries (14-year transit)

May 24:    Saturn first ingress into Aries (2.5-year transit)

June 9:      Jupiter enters Cancer (1 year transit)

July 7:       Uranus first ingress into Gemini (7-year transit)

August 7-9 Kite Aspect.  Uranus, Neptune and Pluto trine & sextile each other.  Great flow.  Saturn conjunct Neptune (close not exact).  Mars oppose Saturn.

In conclusion:

With so much change going on around us, learning how to be light on our feet is important.   Flexibility is vital.   History is long on stories where quick thinking saved a life, brilliant thoughts built a business, and flexibility improved lives.   Of course, the gift from pivots is the ability to know when to pivot.   This is the month where you go to school on pivoting.   Try to come out a master!

The 8 phases

The 29-day lunar month is divided into eight phases.   Each phase has its own energy and expression and lasts three days.  I break down the phases for each month and I also lay out the astrological aspects that are unfolding during that phase (most of which I provide background on in my report above).    Because the moon moves so quickly, I do not provide the aspects of the moon unless we are in an extra charged period.  For daily lunar aspects I suggest going to Café Astrology and search ‘this week in astrology’.   I also recommend Honeycomb Collective for your own personal astro almanac.  Not too expensive and you will be using it all year.

Gemini New Moon

May 26

8:02pm PDT

6 Gemini 05

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more results.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:    How are you being flexible?  What is the nature of your conversations?  Are you reflecting fresh thinking?  What is stale?  How do your thoughts match any new information that is on the ground real in your life?   Where do you need to adapt?

Planetary notes:

5/27: Mercury trine Pluto (03 AQ 41) sharp insights.  Ability to clear away debris thinking.  Deep conversations.  Shedding and gaining insights.  (This did occur in June 2024)

5/29: Mercury conjunct Sun (09 Gem 01) Thinking is robust.  Thinking about self in relationship with others.  Compare and contrast brings flexibility.

Crescent Moon Phase

May 30, 2025

3:17am

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are noteworthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  No matter how mundane it arrives, consider it as message.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you being informed about regarding your family?  What are you learning about your emotions?  What stuff is coming up that is updating you about your roots?   What are you learning about patterns and behaviors that are rooted in childhood?  How can you be flexible?

Planetary notes:

6/1: Venus conjunct Chiron.  Deep healing on where does self-begin and others start?  Are we too self-driven?  Or the opposite, where others have too much influence?  What is going on that needs healing?

First Quarter Moon

June 2, 2025

8:40pm PDT

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received.  Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again. What hurdles have popped up involving the seeds you planted on new moon?    We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.

Focus on:   What actions are you taking that are focused on details?  What did you start on new moon that now needs a very focused follow up?  What analysis do you need to perform on the goals you planted on new moon?   How are you cutting through any intense mental chatter?  What actions show flexibility on your part?

Planetary Notes:

6/4: Venus sextile Jupiter (28 GE 55) New opportunities around love and money. Philosophy may change on some values.

6/5: Mercury sextile Mars (23 LE 42) Flexible thoughts may inspire solid actions.

6/5 : Venus enter Taurus (3 AQ 31) A month where we find our luxury and go long on enjoyment.

6/5 : Mercury square North Node (23 PI 54) Thinking may be sharp but are we forgetting humanity?  Or are we too compassionate? Do we feel lost?

6/6: Mercury sextile Chiron. (25 PI 57) Healing thoughts around self-agency and independency.

Gibbous Moon

June 6, 2025

10:56pm PDT

Gibbous:

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.   How are we perfecting our goals?

Focus on:

Where do you need to fish or cut bait?  What is officially a waste of time and you need to jettison it?   How are you tapping power?   Is your process efficient?   Or do you go through a bunch of steps that are not helpful or relevant any longer?  What is the pivot you need to do?

Planetary Notes:

6/8: Mercury conjunct Jupiter (29 GE 45) Big ass ideas are a plenty.

6/8: Mercury enters Cancer.  Thoughts around the tender and the cozy become more pronounced.

6/9: Mercury square Saturn (00 AR 59) Doing hard work for self is up against thoughts of family and or childhood patterns.

6/9: Venus square Pluto (3 AQ 31) Values that are stubborn may conflict with friends and community (this did occur May 2024)

6/9: Jupiter enters Cancer (See above)

6/9: Mercury square Neptune (02 AR 00).  Fuzzy thoughts that could be too emotional.

6/10: Mars trine Chiron (26 AR 05).  Dramatic actions that is life affirming and supports self-agency.

June 11, 2025

Full Moon – Sagittarius

12: 43am

20 Sag 39

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually, emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Focus on  Where do you need to get a higher perspective?   Where do you need to step back and get philosophical?   How are you expanding your world?  How are you embracing things that are ‘foreign’?   Even if you don’t leave your town, where is your adventure?   Where do you need to bring some judgements?

Planetary Notes:

6/11: Mercury sextile Venus (5 TA 39) Joy and fun thinking. Creative.  Fresh ideas about love and money.

6/13: Sun square North node.  (22 PI 38) Where is your brain freezing?  Where are you moving so fast you are missing humanity?   Where is faith?  How does it impact the facts on the ground?

Disseminating

June 14, 2025

9:22pm PDT

Disseminating: Reflect on what has transpired this month and earlier.  What have you learned?   How can you share some of your knowledge?  What past experiences are you sharing?  Are you in the need to teach?  Or is it find a teacher?   Maybe we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.

Focus on:   How are you sharing the power of friendship?  How are sharing the importance of community?   How you sharing the power of technology?   Where are looking for a teacher who helps you in social circles?  How would you benefit by a tech tutor?   Where do you need to adapt in technology?

Planetary Notes:

6/15: Mars square Uranus (28 TA 54).  Bold actions that are disruptive and shocking.  Be careful in driving.  Are you being pulled into being provocative?  What’s the goal?

6/15 : Jupiter square Saturn (01 AR 18) (see above) final hit

6/17: Mars enters Virgo.  Six weeks of actions that clean up, fix and tune up lose ends and sloppy calendars.

Last Quarter Moon Phase

June 18, 12:19pm PDT

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on:

What final actions are you taking from anything you started on new moon that lean into faith?   How are you motivated by something bigger?  What actions can you take that tap the metaphysical, spiritual and perhaps unworldly?   How does a little prayer help?   Can you tap faith in a fresh manner?

Planetary Notes:

6/18: Jupiter square Neptune (02 AR 06) (see above)

6/20: Sun enters Cancer.   Here comes the emotions.

Balsamic Moon Phase

June 21, 2025

9:12pm PDT

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on:  How are you releasing stubbornness?  How are you releasing being stuck? How are you releasing values that no longer work?   How are you releasing indulgences?

Planetary Notes:

6/21: Mercury trine North Node(22 PI 11).  Thoughts of humanity and kindness excel all other thinking.

6/22: Mars sextile Jupiter (02 CA 51) Actions based on philosophy excel.

6/22: Sun square Saturn (01 AR 35).  Cozy emotions versus hard personal responsibility.   Family versus self.  Where is the middle?

6/23: Sun square Neptune (02 AR 08) Sentimental and emotional versus desires for break outs.    Water versus fire.   Is there a way to harness both even in conflict?

6/24: Mercury square Chiron (26 AR 53).  Thinking of family and childhood that seems out of sync with self-agency and independency.

6/24: Sun conjunct Jupiter (03 CA 21).  Family, cozy, childhood, sentimental, prickly emotions and gooey emotions.  It all feels big.
