Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?     Learning to Cha-Cha-Cha and the power of the pivot.

Welcome to Gemini New Moon.   

We wrapped up 29 days in earthbound, practical and (at times) stubborn Taurus.   Now we are at the first air sign of Gemini, and it is time for us to get up and do what air likes to do, breathe.  We move about, socialize and communicate.  Gemini is the sign of the twins.  One twin does one thing while the other twin does something else, and they both watch each other do busy-ness.  They assess every move.   With Gemini the brain is always on and always processing.   During Gemini we are inquisitive, we seek versatility, we welcome mental stimulation and above all we understand the power of adapting.   The twins cha-cha-cha their way through one experience after another, adapting their moves as the go. At first blush it can look superficial and fickle, but it also speaks to adaptation which is what every species does to survive.    Learning to pivot is Gemini’s secret power.  

In the new moon chart, there are five planets in Gemini.    This suggests an extra busy new moon and twenty-nine-day lunar month of cha-cha-cha-ing.   Adding another level of busy to the chart is Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini, who is in conjunction with Jupiter.    Jupiter the largest planet in the solar system with a mega gravitational pull, is long on big opinions, philosophy and adventures.  Jupiter likes to teach.   Mercury in Gemini loves to flit around, talk to others, learn new points of view, and hang out in the land of juggling opinions.   Mercury likes to learn.    Jupiter and Mercury will bring a lot into this twenty-nine-day cycle, and we will all be asked to pivot every day in some manner as we discuss much and sort through variety opinions and nuances.    This is NOT a month that leans into black and white instead we may benefit if we lean into grey.  

Another highlight of the Gemini stellium is Venus who formed a conjunction (Cazimi) with Sun on June 4 and now is conjunct the moon one hour after the new lunar launch. Venus ,the planet of love and values, in the sign of Gemini loves communication and finding fun and harmony in short journeys and connecting with others.    It is not emotional connections; it is more the joy of logic and intellectual moments shared with others. 

There is also Saturn squaring the Sun, Moon and Venus.   Saturn is the father and the boss and the taskmaster planet and in square to Sun, Moon and Venus suggests a somberness to the lunar month. While we may be out and about all twenty-nine days, some of our actions could be based on responsibilities and obligations.    Even if there is an effort of pure joy there might be a patina of stress or concern.    Having said that, if we have to do something serious or heavy in burden, there will be humor to be found as well.  God knows Gemini likes a good joke and a smart ass laugh. 

Saturn entered Pisces in 2023 and will exit in 2026.   During Saturn’s trek in spiritual and creative Pisces, it is working hard to find faith, or a path that taps intuition.  Saturn will build a structure in the sign it transits that makes sense but first it looks around with a negative, jaundiced eye.   It can be negative.   Pisces, like Gemini, is duel in nature, one fish swims one way and the other swims in the opposite direction.  One fish wants to believe in something big in the universe and the other fish is doubtful.   One Gemini twin is communicating, the other twin is processing.  Gemini logic versus Pisces faith could be a challenge this lunar month.  We may receive fuzzy facts or mixed messages in stressful moments (Thanks, Pisces).   The challenge is what do we do when we are logical but have doubts?   How do we find our way through mental anguish?   How do we quiet our brain?   How do we find faith in a path that makes sense for us?   How do we pivot and adapt?   Where does our intuition fit into the pivot process?    

This New Moon also speaks to the bigger astrological landscape for 2025 when Uranus will leave Taurus and enter Gemini.   That will be the first time Uranus has been in Gemini since 1941-1949.   We will talk more about that important transit the closer we get to it but what is important is that adaptability will be THE word for the seven years Uranus is in Gemini.   Whatever we can learn about pivoting during this Gemini lunar month will be helpful when Uranus makes its move next year.   

Hot Zone with Pluto 

On June 8 Mars moves into Taurus and begins lining up its square with Pluto on June 11.  At the same time the Moon will be entering Leo.   As in previous lunar reports, we are watching the inner planets when they form tough aspects with Pluto.   This can give us a window to some themes for the next twenty years.  

June 9:  Moon in Leo square Mars oppose Pluto. 

June 11 : Mars (Taurus) square Pluto 

June 17: Moon in Scorpio square Pluto 

June 23: Moon conjunction Pluto 

June 30: Moon square Pluto 

July 3: Mercury oppose Pluto  

Between June 8^th and June 11^th is red flagged as an intense window. Roughly every two years Mars and Pluto form a conjunction which begins a new journey involving power issues.  Mars is the warrior on the battlefield exerting power.  Whereas Pluto’s power is the covert assassin and/or covert mogul who funds the war.  Their last square occurred in October during the week of Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.   Looking back on Feb 13, at the conjunction, the new Mars Pluto journey began at zero Aquarius.  At that conjunction, tech exploded with the launch of Open IA which generates life like videos that are by their nature fake but appear realistic.  This new technology can be rife with problems in a good year but in a year with elections it can be hyper troublesome.   Will we see an echo off Feb 13 during this window?    For terrific insights into this topic, check out The Astrology Podcast (March 2024) with astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock who go deep into other mega Mars-Pluto mundane events (Rafah, Russian nukes in space, crowd torches autonomous vehicle, strikes in India and South Korea). 

https://theastrologypodcast.com/2024/02/27/astrology-forecast-march-2024/   On a personal level, consider how in mid-February you tapped power?   How were you using strength and tenacity?  How might you tap it again around June 11^th?  How and where are you drilling down deep?   What is going on with your possessions?  What is going on with your properties?  How are your finances feeling pressurized?   What is happening that involves big tech and you?   How are you working with groups of people?  

Looking ahead we will see the next Mars/Pluto aspect on July 21 (Mars Trine Pluto) which is harmonious.  Then November 3 (Mars oppose Pluto) which may revisit the tension of June 11^th.    

On July 3, Mercury in Leo opposes Pluto which connects back to Feb 5 when Mercury also formed a conjunction with Pluto.  On the mundane level let’s watch the world for big news events where the actual reporting of the news may be the news.  Perhaps a merger of big media or a big scandal.   Journalism could be rocked.  When it comes to Leo versus Pluto, there is a push for dynamic personal expression but if it teeters on selfish, then Pluto in Aquarius calls it out.   There also could be a round of disinformation that has everyone in a dramatic tizzy.   There could be conversations that jump start a major self-evolution.   Maybe it is a conversation that is born out strength and resolve and sends blood through the body which launches serious changes.   “I think therefore I am” might be the result after a passionate (Leo) discussion.  

Looking ahead we will see the next aspect on October 13 (Mercury square Pluto) which will be tense and then on November 2 (Mercury sextile) we get a productive and healing aspect.

Rules and authority may be pushing on our love, money and values (Venus) then on our spirit (Sun) and finally on our thinking and communication (Mercury).     If everything feels hard, blame Saturn.   If you can pivot and tap intuition, go for it.   If you can’t, then breathe.  If you are getting nothing but “NO” then take a break and pivot to something else until this crunching period of hardship and struggle, (even if it is mental) wraps.      As for the retrograde….

Saturn will retrograde every year, reminding us to slow down and ‘get’ the lesson of the sign.   Pisces can be very kind and sweet.  However, it also can be long on denial and delusion.  Pisces likes to avoid conflict and will hope and pray any challenge away.  Pisces also indulges in addictions and other escapism routes.   As one can imagine, Saturn is all about reality and pragmatism and takes issues head on.   If there are problems, habits and patterns, that need a reality check Saturn will find it . If it takes a retrograde of five months to clean out the Pisces fuzziness, then so be it.   

This Saturn retrograde will cover 12 – 20 degrees and anyone with planets at those degrees in Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius will feel the Saturn retrograde.  Has anything come up since March 23 that required ‘reality check’?   Are there any hard lessons that are piercing some illusion?  Or maybe you have been looking the other way and during the retrograde you realize you can’t afford to be fuzzy or obtuse any longer.   We can all take a deep breath and figure out a way to deal with any denial in the most productive manner during the Saturn retrograde.   And if we don’t get it figured out by November 15 when the retrograde ends, it is possible by the time we get to February 18 when the shadow ends that we will be clear on solid new patterns, habits and structures that support better choices.  Let Saturn be your helper and editor in all your choices during this retrograde.

Neptune begins his annual retrograde at the end of the Gemini lunar month.    It is interesting that in one of the most logical signs, Gemini there is a level of confusion throughout the whole 29-day cycle due to Saturn in Pisces square the Gemini planets and then at the end the cycle the planet Neptune, the gassy, vague, muted, fuzzy planet turns retrograde in Pisces, the vague and softest  sign.    We already have teacher nun Saturn retrograde in Pisces and now we get Neptune going backwards.    Sure, this is all clear as mud.   But again, the value of Gemini is learning to pivot.   I can speak a bit of this feeling since I live in a zone that has natural disasters.   The feeling of living a normal day, doing whatever it is you do and then bam, an earthquake hits and you are now scrounging for food and water or a route home.   Your logical side is up but it feels different because you need to use your intuition to make sense of perhaps something that is not sensible.    This is like Neptune and Saturn retrograde and both getting the last drops out Pisces before they go into Aries next year.   Neptune is going to have to shed its cloak of ‘vague’, especially when it transits into hot ass and bright Aries.    Like a human spelunking in a deep wet cave and then exiting into a hot desert that is what is going to happen next year when Neptune moves into Aries.     Our psyches will be drawn to something hot and stark and independent next year but now at this retrograde Neptune retreats to the cave.  Between now and December 7 during Neptune retrograde we will be doing one more round of tapping our inner landscape.  Where do we find our intuition, our creativity and our humanitarian?   How do we access those kind, gentle energies?   It could serve us later when we are in stark bright experiences and need to remember the power of tapping our quiet.  

In conclusion:    Gemini shows us all the power in adapting.  Gemini is a smarty pants with all its logical questions and comments.  Gemini can be so savvy getting info on the ground.   All of this is great.    However, when this logic comes up with responsibilities or it feels heavy or it feels fuzzy, this is when our logical is challenged.   Take a breath, clear your mind and listen to your intuition and if you gotta pivot, go for it.   Remember to cha-cha-cha.

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more results.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:    How am I getting information?  How am I communicating?  How am feeling stressed?  How do I get informed if I am feeling pressure?  How do I pivot?  How do I adapt?   Do I have to given anyone a Yes or No answer or can I give them a solid maybe?

Crescent Moon Phase

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  No matter how mundane it arrives, consider it as message.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about your strength?  What are you learning about your passion?  What are you learning about your ability to be daring?   What are you learning about being the center of attention?  What are you learning about pride?  What are learning about being a hero?   How are you researching the value of drama?

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received.  Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again. What hurdles have popped up involving the seeds you planted on new moon?    We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.   

Focus on:   What actions are you taking that speak to bettering your efficiency?    How are your communication abilities improved by a well-run schedule?   When you say YES to doing something how does inform your facts?  What new information do you learn?

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.   How are we perfecting our goals? 

Focus on:  What refining can you do that impacts your resources?   How does perfecting your shared resources, impel you to dive down in new data?  What facts on the ground bring a new knowledge to your resources, finances, sex life, debt and taxes?    

Special focus

6/20: Sun square Neptune.  Fuzzy spirit.  Feeling a disconnect from reality feeling a blur into the universe can be disorienting.

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually, emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?  

Focus on:   How are you looking at your place in the world and how is it in alignment with your interior world?    How does your family support your place in the world?   How is your hard work and discipline paying off?   How are you making adaptations that put you in the world and still honor your emotions and home?

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:   How are you sharing your gratitude to friends?   How do they impact your communication?   How do they keep your facts fresh and accurate?   How is technology keeping your facts on the ground accurate?
