Cancer NEW MOON 2019

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon we can get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?  Do you shut down your emotions? That’s funny - do you also take your pay check and set it on fire?  Learn to invest in your emotions they may provide a game plan for productive changes.   It also could be fun.

Cancer New Moon 

Solar Eclipse

10 Cancer 37 

This year, the first water sign, Cancer will bring in a nice solar eclipse with the new moon.   So many of the eclipses in the last few years have had tangle ups with outer planets activating a lot of stress.  However, this Cancer Eclipse chart does not have a bunch of rough and tumble aspects with other planets, which is a much welcome relief. 

In the Cancer twenty-nine day cycle we spend a whole bunch of time with our emotions and family (of choice and birth).   This is not the time to be stuck in our brain.  This is when we tap into and exercise our emotions.    Watch what emotes up during these twenty- nine days.    With the Cancer eclipse we learn the power of allowing whatever it is to pulse through our body and then see how those emotions can motivate actions.   There is self-preservation that comes with Cancer.   As a reminder, Cancer is the second cardinal sign, following Aries who also has a determination to self.   With Cancer the protection is around family, history, legacy, emotions and if one pries too far be prepared to either feel or use the pinchers of Cancer claws.    We may find our selves pinching or being pinched.   Just be careful one of those snippy snaps doesn’t do too much damage because the other side of Cancer, the sentimental side, could pop up and regret pushing someone away.   Cancer is very connected to children or child like behaviors, which can be difficult but also rich in innocence and wonderment.  If you are too jaded and have ‘seen it all or done it all’ you may need this eclipse more than others to find your innocence again.   

Cancer the crab carries his home on his back so during this cycle we are looking around at our shell and figuring out what needs to be improved or fixed. Perhaps we finally clean out our garage or get the kitchen sink fixed.   Cancer loves cooking and making sure loved ones are fed and cozy.   Take a moment to allow the sense of cozy and nurturing to guide you and your actions.  Perhaps you will reach out to someone who you have not seen or spoken to in awhile.   Cancer is our misty time.   

Although, the Cancer cycle can be a homebody period, this new moon chart has the Sun  & Moon in a nice, (tiny bit wide), sextile aspect with Uranus, which should bring out some fun and novelty and might get us out of the house for something unusual.    An offering from out of the blue may be worth checking out.   Mixing up daily routines will be fun.   The same old same old feels old.  New could appear out of nowhere.  Again, this is a great time to check in with your youthful side and find fun.    For those people who do not often check in with their guts, this is also a great twenty -nine day cycle for you to regularly access gut.  But having said that, if your gut is locked into fear which can also come up in the Cancer cycle, check in with loved ones and get some perspective. 

Remember, Cancer is the first water sign of the zodiac and water must flow.  It should go in and out like the tides, which are pulled on by the Moon (who rules Cancer) so emotions can be high and low.  That’s fine and natural but pushing back on the emotions will cause a lot of problems.   Consider a pool devoid of fresh water streams or is missing drains to release old water.   That pool will get stank pretty fast.   This is something we all should avoid so use the Uranus energy to find new practical ways to release any pent up emotions.  Find new adventures that speak to your emotions and intuition.   Get stimulated to do something new that speaks to your cozy.   And drum roll—perhaps find a new way to approach family.    Even those hard to navigate family members, there may be a new approach provided by this Cancer Eclipse.    

Remember an eclipse is when the lights go out and then they come back on.   During that brief black out we give ourselves an opportunity of a shift.   With the Cancer eclipse, family and emotions, roots, nurturing and self -protection are all going to the chiropractor and getting adjusted.   This is not to be feared but instead consider the timing is perfect.  And if we are fuzzy on the importance of the adjustment we’ll learn more at the Capricorn Lunar Eclipse on July 16 and the solar eclipse on Dec 26.    This is a six- month window of energy shifts.  

Saturn Neptune 

In the New Moon chart we are still in the afterglow of Saturn sextile Neptune.   We may find ourselves taking faith and spirituality out for a test drive as we pursue some concrete goals.  They could be personal or they could be goals that improve our community or business.  Whatever it is, there is a wee bit of enthusiasm in some small way that is energizing us.   Watch and see if you feel yourself tapping into your own faith to pursue something that elevates you in the public.   People are feeling something going on in them that suggest it is not good enough to hide in home or church.  We have to be out there amongst the world.  See what comes up in the next twenty- nine days. 

Mercury Retrograde

Speaking of emotions, nothing can stir them up like an ol’ Mercury retrograde and although the chart for the eclipse is looking good, the one sticky section is Mercury which is on top of Mars and in a bit of a battle with Pluto.  This will not be a passive three- week Mercury retrograde with just some silly tech glitches and missed flights.  Ah, no.  There will be fights and mouthy-ness and tensions—a bit of depression and hopefully redemption. 

DATES: 

Mercury shadow: June 20 

Mercury retrograde: July 7 2019 4:14pm PDT  -4 Leo 27 

Mercury re-enters Cancer: July 19 

Mercury Direct: July 31 8:57pm  - 23 Cancer 56

Mercury re-enters Leo: August 12

Mercury shadow ends: August 15 

The Mercury retrograde is impacted the whole three weeks by the tension of Mars and Pluto.  Mercury crossed into the shadow (June 20) and got on top of Mars and both planets opposed Pluto.   Okay. Then when Mercury turns retrograde on July 7 it does it at four degrees of Leo and dang if Mars isn’t still with him!  Then Mercury breaks free of Mars and goes all the way back to Cancer and almost gets into it again with Pluto.     Clearly, some people this cycle will just have to touch the flame to understand it is hot.  Others will have to let their emotions guide them to new thinking.   

This retrograde speaks to the possibility of an evolution in thoughts.    The Leo energy will have some of us thinking like a hero and ready to be brave. Others will struggle with issues around ego.    When Mercury moves back into Cancer (July 19) our thinking will still be reactionary but perhaps not quite as hair triggered as when Mercury was in Leo.   There could be a bit of depression and things feel so big.  But emotions that are deep may impact our thinking and help us evolve especially near the end of the retrograde.  By the time we get to Mercury direct (July 31) we could have come up with a plan or thinking that will provide a real evolution to improving a situation.    Stuck and rigid thinking is put on notice; this Mercury retrograde is ready to mix it up.   

Small note:  You may want to go back and look at your calendar and see what was going on June 2013 and July 2012 because both of those Mercury retrogrades were in the same spots of Leo and Cancer ass this cycle.   Perhaps we will all be finishing up something that started during that time. 

In conclusion:

No one talks about their inner child like they used to in the 1990s.  I guess we dumped them at the turn of the century but for this twenty nine day cycle consider finding your inner gentle child and take him or her out  and mix it up with the world, be brave, be thoughtful and have fun.   And don’t let Mercury get you too worked up.

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:  How are you accessing your emotions?  Are you stuffing them?  That’s a funny way to waste time.  How are you using your emotions to improve your life?  Where are you feeling hair triggered?  What actions do you need to take that support you?  Or actions that support your family?   When is the last time you took your inner child out to play?

7/3: Venus enters Cancer

7/4: Saturn opposition north node.  Where are you frozen?  How are you keeping your emotions at bay?  Is this good?  Or not? 

Crescent Moon Phase

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything. Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are your feelings telling you about the information you are learning about your strength? What are you learning about loyalty? What are you learning about pride? What are you learning about the power of creativity?   What are you learning about the power of being bold and out there?

7/8 Mercury conjunct Mars.  Sparring words.  Getting into verbal tussles or changing thoughts with razor sharp exactness.

First Quarter Moon

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects. Some independence may need to be exerted. 

Focus on: What are your emotions telling you about the actions you should take that support your relationships?  What actions are you taking that speak to your ability to find balance?   What actions are you taking that address where you feel ‘out of whack’? 

Special Focus:

7/9: Sun conjunct north node.  Emotions speak to us about important matters that we may have ignored.   Work above emotions could have cost more than it should. 

7/10: Sun trine Neptune.   Feelings that speak to humanitarian causes.   Emotions that speak to creativity and faith.  Spirituality matters perhaps brought to family.  

7/11: Mars square Uranus.  Battles over ego.  Over money. Over property.  Over control.    Remember, in order to win a war you gotta lose a few battles.

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.  

Focus on:  How do your feelings indicate where you need to stretch?   How are your emotions telling you to refine your goals?

7/14 Sun oppose Pluto.  Once a year aspect where we go in deep and make peace with power.  Are we at odds with power (players)?  Or are we disconnected from our own power and see enemies everywhere? What’s the move?  Go in deep and transform your emotions.

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?  

Focus on:  

What are your emotions suggesting is your place in the world?  How are your emotions guiding your home life versus your career?  And if you do not have a career what are your emotions telling you need to be out in the world with your gifts, talents, skills and leadership?

Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.  And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:  How are you sharing your faith?  How are you sharing your spirituality?  How are you sharing your mystical side?  How are you sharing your humanitarianism?  

Special focus:

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense. And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living  “The serenity prayer”
