SCORPIO NEW MOON 2018

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon we can get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?

Rejuvenation is easy this cycle as we happily jettison the old for fresh and new, including our beliefs.

15 Scorpio 11 

What a nice Scorpio New Moon!   How about that sentence?  You don’t see that written often.   Scorpio, for sure, is one of the ‘darkest’ signs meaning it is not light and breezy.  Scorpio likes to go deep on any subject when it has its attention.  When a subject is not registering a bleep on personal radar then Scorpio does not give a flying fig.    

Scorpio is the second water sign so emotions are up for this 29-day cycle.  “Black or white”, “All or None”, “Everyone or nobody,” Scorpio is the sign of extreme feelings.  But these are feelings for a reason. It is part of the Scorpio process of rejuvenation.   Scorpio needs death for rebirth and the way to get to this rebirth is through polarizing emotions.   Thus, we hear things like “Everyone came,”  “No one showed up” and the like.   Finding that middle ground is difficult during the Scorpio cycle but given we just left Libra which is all about the middle—now it feels good to dig in deep onto something or just go balls to the wall.   This is how we find our power.  

Scorpio is the sign of power and self will and on Scorpio new moon chart we have the Sun and Moon making a trine with Neptune and a sextile with its ruling planet Pluto.  This cycle suggests we will find our power though our faith, spirit and mysticism.  And we will find our power through our desire to clean out debris that no longer works for us.   We may go deep on topics and issues both personal and professional.  This cycle is a great time to take care of things on our to-do list that need a lot of focus, energy and will power.   Scorpio can find where our plumbing is broken and spewing something unhealthy and then clean it up and put in new pipes.  The 29-day lunar cycle will be full of opportunities to find our power, find our broken pipes, clean up stuff that needs fixing and it could actually be a somewhat pleasant experience.   How about that for a change?  Also intuition could be high this 29-day cycle that will support the process of finding our empowerment.

Jupiter in Sagittarius

November 8 2018 7:38am – December 2 2019

Bountiful Jupiter moves into Sagittarius the day after the launch of Scorpio New Moon.  When he leaves mysterious dark Scorpio for life-of-the-party Sag we will notice it right away since Jupiter is the biggest planet of the zodiac and has one huge gravitational pull.   It may feel like there is abundance and goodwill in the air, perhaps as if it is Christmas in November.   This is due in part because Sagittarius is Jupiter’s home sign.  “Hey, Everyone I’m back! Let’s get this party started!”  

The last time Jupiter was in Sag was between November 2006 and Dec 2007.   You may want to consider what was going on for you then and see if you revisit some of those experiences this cycle.   Think of it like you took a class in 2006-07 and now you are going in for part two of that class.   Jupiter is the planet of education and philosophy and the word ‘jovial’ comes from Jupiter’s first roman name Jove.  There is some fun in learning and opening up to new experiences and learning about others.    Travel can be a highlight during this period. Jupiter loves to do things big! So you probably were ‘big’ about something 12 years ago during the last cycle and you may revisit it again this year. 

For those of us who were paying attention, we know that the real estate market and easy money and other markets got overheated during Jupiter’s Sag run in 06-07 and everything came crashing down in 2008 when Jupiter was in sensible Capricorn.   Let this be a warning to all of us as Jupiter returns to the party we may or may not want to be as indulgent as we were in the past.   We will talk more about Jupiter as it transits through Sag and makes aspects with other planets including a square with Neptune in January, June and September.     This could bring out some buyers’ remorse on some issues.   One does not want to be too exuberant with this aspect.  Managing our ‘joy’ is probably the sanest move.  But at the end of the day Jupiter in Sag square Neptune in Pisces is a test of faith aspect.   Watch for zealots!

The final round of Mercury retrograde for 2018 will begin on November 16 at 13 Degrees of Sag and then will turn direct at 27 Scorpio on December 6.    This Mercury retrograde may be a bit more challenging than the other ones from earlier in the year because of Neptune.  Neptune who is full of hocus pocus is in square with Mercury.   This mercury retrograde will have us all taking a second look at our opinions and philosophy and BIG Ideas.   Are those opinions based in fact or fiction?   Neptune loves to gaslight us when we drift too far from facts.   If you find yourself getting too worked up during this retrograde, double check if you are being influenced by something that is not based in logic.   Stay away from gossip and zealots.   There will be liars.   They may show up at the beginning of the retrograde or they could start their deceit after Dec 1 when Mercury returns to Scorpio.   The lying will be based on power issues and of course any Mercury retrograde in Sag is full of exaggeration!   Tread carefully as you hear a lot of stuff that just is not accurate.  But in the end, our belief system will be intact when the retrograde is over December 6 and we may have all learned something about our opinions and beliefs and when is it appropriate to share any of it by the time Mercury returns to Sag on December 12^th.

October 5 : Venus station retrograde 10 Scorpio 10

October 31:  Venus re-enters Libra 

November 16:  Venus station direct 25 Libra 14 

December 2:  Venus re-enters Scorpio 

Dec 7: Venus exits shadow 10 Scorpio 10 

Since October 5 when Venus turned retrograde we have been assessing our values.  What we value and how we are valued have been in our sights.   What have we learned about who is cold and rejects our gifts? Or are we spending too much time on something that others marginalize?  Or are we doing too much and others are not doing their share?  Or are others doing too much?   Or are we doing too much for other’s approval?   And then there is money.   How has money (which is something that speaks of value) been working?  Is it good? Is it wonky?   

This Venus retrograde is in the sign of Scorpio, which is taxes and debt and sex.  Perhaps we felt a strong urge to get rid of any debt.  When it retrograded back into Libra on October 31 our relationships and finding balance got a little tricky.   It could be important to ask our partner if we are on the same page in an area that has felt off.   

Once it turns direct we could revisit issues that came up since September 2 (beginning of the shadow) but by the time we get to December 7 we will find a lot has softened and we are more in sync with our values.   

Neptune Direct 

November 24 8:08pm EST

13 Pisces 41 

Neptune wraps its annual retrograde on November 24.  Neptune reached 16 degrees of Pisces on June 18 then it stationed retrograde and trekked back to 13 degrees. If you have any planets between 12 and 17 degrees Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sag you probably have felt like you are losing your mind, just a bit.  Maybe that is okay, sort of.   Now as it passes over these degrees again you may find your common sense return. For the rest of us we continue to process our faith and spirituality.    Take some time and consider what you have learned about your inner landscape since June.  What rattled you?  Where did your intuition work for you?  When should you have paid attention to your gut? Meditate on what you may have learned and above all ask how you access your humanitarianism.  

In conclusion:  This is a wonderful cycle to get rejuvenated in a real meaningful manner.  Let Neptune inspire you along this journey, let Pluto empower you, Mercury quiet your tone and Jupiter broaden your vision.   See you in Sag next month!

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map but you should put out your Intent.

This focus: What needs to be released?  What do you need to do to find your broken pipes?  How can you plumb your system so that the good comes in and the yuck goes out and the pipes don’t get confused?    What do you need to do to empower yourself?

11/8:  Jupiter enters Sagittarius (see above) 

11/9: Venus Trine Mars:  Values are in sync with action.  Love, money and beauty are in sync with action.

Crescent Moon Phase

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything. Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What information are you learning that speaks to your executive abilities?  What information are you learning that suggests your inner CEO needs to come out more?  What information are you learning that speaks to you building something with more structure?

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted. 

Focus on: What actions are you taking that support groups of people? What actions are you taking that help lead others to their own empowerment?   What actions are you taking that help transform groups of like-minded people?

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.  

Focus on: 

How are finding your independence?  How are you fine tuning your survival?  How are you sifting through your anger to find the energy and transform something important to you?

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.  And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:  How are you sharing your feelings?  How are you sharing your ability to bring ‘family’ to others?  How are you sharing the power of roots?  How are you sharing the transformative power of feelings and roots? 

11/27: Sun conjunct Mercury.  Thoughts that put you in a ‘foreign’ experience.   Thinking that builds bridges.  Communication that inspires.  

11/27: Mercury conjunct Jupiter:   Big thoughts, big ideas, big opinions, god help us, can anyone just be nuanced or must it all be big? 

Last Quarter Moon Phase

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense. And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living  “The serenity prayer”

What actions are you taking that take care of details?  What actions are you taking that tie up lose ends?  What actions are you taking that support your daily routines especially around health and diet?  How is all of this work transformative?

Focus on How are you releasing your inbalance?  How are you releasing passive aggressiveness?   How are you releasing your need to zig when your partner or others zag?  How are you releasing co-dependencies?
