Aries NEW MOON 2020

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we can get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?    Survival.   

Sabian symbol: 

PHASE 5 (ARIES 5°): A TRIANGLE WITH WINGS.

KEYNOTE: The capacity for self-transcending.

This is the symbol of the desire to reach a higher level of existence, of pure aspiration or devotion, of bhakti. What has emerged in the first phase of the process of differentiation is becoming aware of the possibility of further up-reachings. The principle of “levitation” is seen as one of the two essential factors in evolution. The emergent being glorifies and deifies it, but it is still only an ideal. At this stage, nevertheless, the whole being experiences a childlike longing for its eventual realization.

At this point the last and synthesizing stage of the first five-fold unit in the cyclic process is reached. A NEW DIMENSION of being is envisioned mobilizing creative endeavors.

I write this New Moon report on March 19, 2020.

At this writing, we are in the throes of the Covid19 (CoronaVirus) pandemic.    Much of the world is in the process of shutting down.   Towns, cities, counties, state/provinces/countries are putting in new laws and rules to flatten the curve.    To understand sheltering in place and why we are trying to flatten the curve go here:

While each of us may be experiencing this pandemic in little ways and others are impacted in profound ways, we can all agree that this is not like any other situation to have confronted us.   As I said to a friend, “I’ve never seen Italy closed in my lifetime and it never happened in my mother’s and she’s 86.”   Remember, we are all sheltering in place not because we will all die, it is because we are protecting those who are older, have weakened health and we are trying to stop the spread and not collapse the hospital/health care system.      

Aries

That’s where we are on a big picture but now let’s go back to the importance of Aries.   Aries is survival.  It is the warrior.   Give a seed dirt and water and its DNA will activate it to crack its shell then crack the hard- winterized dirt and push its leaves through the ground and into the air where it can then face the sunshine and grow.  This is Aries.   It is Spring.   It is renewal.    

But never forget, it is survival.  

This message is important.   Normally, at the Aries New Moon we all make our Treasure Maps and our focus is about ways to improve our lives.   Perhaps it is focused on our homes, our families, our private wishes for self.      But it has not necessarily been maps on our survival.   Or, so we think.   

The ability to reflect on your needs and wishes and hopes at the Aries New Moon is a connection between you and yes, your survival needs.   It may not be actual shelter and food but it is about something deep inside you that you need/want.  That want/need may take you to a place or situation or experience that will later serve you.   Your ability to connect to that voice deep in you is no different than the seed in the dirt who is directed by its own voice/dna to grow roots and stretch upward.   This is Aries, connect to that voice is critical. 

It can be argued that voice is critical all the time but in the middle of a pandemic it is most profound.    However, even if Covid 19 disappeared tomorrow connecting to that voice and your needs is vital given the astrology we are in.   We are in bumps and you need and will benefit by having that connection working between you and your higher power.  

The Astrology of our Times 

I have been sharing for some time that we are in astrologically extraordinary times.    We had the Saturn/Pluto conjunction on January 12 in Capricorn.   The last time that aspect happened was 1982.   But the last time it happened in the sign Capricorn was 1518.  I reminded everyone that was when Martin Luther started the reformation (a few months before the aspect).  He broke from the Pope, ultimately created new religion which activated all the other religions that came off his reformation.   A few months after the aspect the King of Spain codified taking humans from Africa and enslaving them to work in the new world.   Both of these actions spread like wildfire.  Or if you like, spread like a virus.   These two realities changed the world and impact it still today.      Going forward from 2020, historians of astrology will tie the CoronaVirus and the impact of it to the Saturn/Pluto aspect of January.   

Uranus went into Taurus briefly in 2018, retrograded back into Aries and then moved into Taurus for the long haul starting March 2019.   The last time it was in Taurus was 1934-1942.   The 1930’s was of course the throes of The Depression and the run up to World War 2.   Facisim and Nazism flourished but at the same time, FDR, a man who did not match what people thought of as a leader, (he was in a wheel chair for gawdsakes), but FDR lead the USA through it and created programs like Social Security to help citizens.   It is worth noting that Uranus was also in Taurus 1850-1859 –which was the runup to the civil war.  In the 18^th century, it was in Taurus 1767 – 1775, the Industrial Revolution kicked into super drive and it was the run up to the American Revolution.   Are you seeing a theme?  There is unrest and extreme actions.   Of course, people survived all these eras but learning how to pivot and make practical shifts are critical and in the sign of Taurus doable.   Hard work, dedicated, and focused can be harnessed in Taurus.   But avoiding the stubborn nature and fixed position of Taurus will also be important.   Let’s not get blinded by stubbornness.   

Going back further in time for just historical reference, in the 1348 – 1356 period of Uranus in Taurus the world got Black Plague in Europe and Asia.   Remember, doctors and medicine then were not like now!!  We have come a long way from blood letting.  And corona virus is not bubonic plague.    The period of 1599 – 1607 got us King James and William Shakespeare’s work.  And 1683 – 1691 –Issac Newton!   There is an unrest but also Uranus bring innovation.    We will probably need a lot of brilliance.  

Anytime Pluto and Uranus make aspects with other planets it will get our attention.    Jupiter and Mars conjunct Pluto at the time of this report and on the New Moon Chart.  Mars is exact on March 20 a few days before New Moon and Jupiter is exact on April 4.  Both of these planets have a rattling effect on our souls, for sure, but at the same time they speak to our philosophical and actions being in alignment.   Jupiter is so big, he is part and parcel of the issues we are going through because he is so huge.  The last time Jupiter was in Capricorn was 2008 and we had the financial market crash in September (as Pluto heading forward for Capricorn).   Now Jupiter is near Pluto in Capricorn once again and brings big issues and big responses.   We are seeing large bailouts and should expect more.     On 4/7 Mars will square Uranus which will bring more instability but also look for warriors to push back on anything that makes no sense and does not take care of ‘humanity’. 

Saturn will be squaring Uranus in 2021 but once it goes into Aquarius (3/21) it we should start to reach out to Uranus by sign and we should anticipate more unrest.  Financial stresses will be pronounced.      It is good to look back at the last times Saturn was in Aquarius for historical perspective.  Saturn was in Aquarius was 1932-1935 – So, that’s another check column with The Depression highlighted.   And it returned to Aquarius 1962-1964-Which was a lot of new technology, space race and JFK assassinated.  Then again 1991-1993, processing computers were launched, surfing the internet and Rodney King Trial and riots.     Obviously, it is not all bad times in any of these Saturn Eras.  But with the square to Uranus which will take place 3 times in 2021 (2/14, 6/14, 12/24) we should prepare for it is not going to be easy.    As Saturn starts to chug through Aquarius and building towards the square we will start to feel the push between the battle of status quo, brilliance, unrest, structure, chaos, innovation, earthbound, practicality and theoretical.  Humanitarian versus ‘mine’.  There is lots to process.   

As you can see that is a lot of energy for all of us to navigate. What should we do?  

New Moon 

Stay connected to our gut.    Luckily this New Moon, this Treasure Map time has got all our Gut Receptors on!

The Sun & Moon are making a lovely sextile to Saturn.   Saturn offers structure and practicality.   It offers wisdom and now in Aquarius it will offer brilliance and free- thinking solutions.   It will bring guidance that may surprise you.  

The Sun & Moon are in conjunction to Chiron.   Chiron teaches us healing by pointing out our wounds.   Any wisdom that comes up will be a direct connection to an old wound.   What a beautiful New Moon to clean house of your wounds.   This wound surrounds independence and self determination, it connects to our ‘warrior’. Maybe you didn’t think you had an old wound but it has now surfaced, perhaps from the conditions we are experiencing around the pandemic.  Whatever comes up you are gifted to help heal it on this new moon   Let the wound speak to you and address it.   If it feels like it needs focused processing download a self- help book or a lecture and see if that can help. 

And finally, Mars conjunct Pluto.  If there was ever an aspect for us to find our energy and our survival it is Mars & Pluto.   First of all, before Pluto was discovered Mars ruled both Aries and Scorpio.   Now Pluto rules Scorpio and Mars rules Aries.   Aries is the fight and the warrior.  Mars is ready for battle at all times.   Pluto and Mars know how to talk to each other.  Pluto speaks to death and rebirth.  Pluto knows ‘that was then, this is now’.    Both of these planets understand survival both metaphorically and literally.  This is a very dynamic energy for this New Moon.  Use it.  

These aspects will be coloring the whole 29- day lunar month and will speak to the themes for the lunar year.   Our Treasure Maps may not look like maps we ever made before now.   But they will connect to something deep in us that will speak to a need that is important to us even if we don’t ‘know’ it on some level, it is more that our instincts guide us and that is what is important.  

Even if this Covid19 virus should go away in a couple of months, we are forever changed.   We saw how quickly our lives went from having one priority to a new agenda in a nanosecond.     This is survival.   Congratulations you are doing a good job.   You heard the Universe. 

There are a few dates during this 29 day cycle that I’m watching where the inner planets aspect the outer planets.   These are bumpy aspects you can read more about them in the 8 lunar phase section of the report below.

3/29: Saturn hits 0 Aquarius 28 degree (Where it will be joined by Jupiter later on 12/21) 

3/30:  Mars enters Aquarius 

3/31: Mars conjunct Saturn.  

4/4: Jupiter conjunct Pluto 

4/7: Mars square Uranus. 

4/14 Sun Square Pluto:  

4/15 Sun square Jupiter:   

4/20 Sun square Saturn.  

In conclusion, WE are all in this TOGETER.   I am not sure why we all decided to incarnate and be on the planet at this time, but here we are and please connect to your inner voice and enjoy your map process.  Remember if you don’t want to make a map, you can write down what you need on an orange piece of paper and call it a day.   It’s the connection to your spirit that is important!  

I’m still not sure what I will be doing but then, it is five days until New Moon and I will know once the New Moon launches.

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:  How are you finding your inner warrior?   How are you finding your connection to your gut?  How are you finding your voice deep inside that stirs confidence?  How are you finding your connection to survival? 

Special focus:

3/25 Sun conjunct Chiron:  Once a year the Sun gets on top of Chiron.  Wounds are exposed around independence, new paths and breakthroughs.   

3/27: Venus trine Jupiter.  Levity, joy and abundance appear.  Rejoice no matter the size.   

Crescent Moon Phase

March 28, 5:18am PDT

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about finances?  What are you learning about your values?  What are you learning about practicality?  What are you learning about building something slow and steady?  

Special Focus

3/28: Venus trine pluto.  Transformation.  Values, love, money get a new path.   A practical approach creates a more abundant path as long as something is released.  

3/30:  Mars enters Aquarius 

3/31: Mars conjunct Saturn.  A new energy to structure.  New buildings, projects, focused energy.   Any loss gets a new warrior.   

First Quarter Moon

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted. 

Focus on:  What actions are you taking that speak to your family?  What actions are taking that speak to your feelings?  What action are you taking that speak to harnessing your emotions?  

Special Focus:

4/3: Venus enters Gemini

4/3 Mercury conjunct Neptune: Soft, muted, fuzzy thinking.  Conversation very fuzzy.  Faith and spirituality are welcomed but not delusions.     

4/4: Venus trine Saturn.  Love, money, values get structures that work.   Commitments to values is accented.

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.  

Focus on:  How are you refining your health? How are you refining your schedule? How are you refining your clutter?  How are your refining your cluttered thinking?  How are you dotting I’s and crossing Ts. 

Special focus

4/4: Jupiter conjunct Pluto 7:44pm (See above) 

4/7: Mars square Uranus.  The warrior meets the rebel.  Somewhere in there is humanity and practicality.   Even if it is messy. 

Full Moon Phase

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us.  There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?  

Focus on:  

What is going on with your relationships?  How are you finding balance?  How are you negotiating?  How is work be evenly shared?    How are benefits being evenly shared?

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:  How are you sharing your knowledge? How are you sharing goals?  How are you sharing your ability to bridge people and groups?  How are you sharing wisdom?  How are you sharing faith?  

Special focus:

4/14 Sun Square Pluto:  Power moves towards independence versus holding on to the same old same old.  Where is the growth?  Where is their value in old?  Where is there value in youth?  Where’s the fight?  Where are the solutions?  

Last Quarter Moon Phase

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

What actions are you taking that speak to leadership?  What actions are you taking that create systems?  What actions are you taking that support your career?  What actions are you taking that support successful infrastructures?   How are you leading?

4/15 Sun square Jupiter:   Try to find solutions that don’t bring out big war over independence and status quo.   Big enthusiasm is challenged by practicality.
