Sagittarius New Moon– 2022

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?   It is okay to be big.  It is okay to be hopeful.  It is okay to find gratitude.    It’s okay to be okay.

As a Sagittarian, allow me to welcome you to the 29-day Sag cycle.   I believe you will find it the perfect antidote to the last eleven months.    This year was tough.  I won’t go over all the Astro reasons why it was rough since I pointed them out each month.   But now I can tell you there is relief.   Some stuff we must work our way through, but that is life, the good news is that the grinding-on-our-last-nerve hurdles, have slowed down for at least this month.   Yay. 

Sagittarius is the final fire sign of the zodiac.   In Aries, the fire is like a grassfire tearing through the terrain.  In Leo it is like a beautiful bonfire, big, glorious, and contained.  Now in Sag the fire is a hearth.   It welcomes us on a cold night, it inspires storytelling.  Others who need to light their own fire can bring their stick and grab the flame without too much singe.    The Sag fire lifts our spirits, warms our soul, and comforts us.   

Sag is a centaur, half man half horse, who has his bow and arrow in his hands ready to aim on a target.   He is a very good shot.    

For the next 29 days we have an opportunity to open our internal hearth, in our brain and in our heart.    We can find optimism.   We can find gratitude.   In Sag we learn how to go to higher ground.  We avoid the tangles where everyone is getting bruised (usually for no rational reason).  Sag can maneuvers away from the fight.  Often finding humor as an exit plan.    

Sag is the sign of traveling and education.  In Sag we get distance and can, if we want, find common ground even when we are confident there is no Ven diagram of overlapping truths.   Mark Twain is the perfect example of Sag.   His characters, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, young boys growing up in mid 19^th century Missouri were beloved across the world.   Twain tapped the Sag ability to speak of universal truth.   

For 29 days feel your inner Twain.   Tap humor, look at someone and say, “Well, there’s me.”   And find a way to connect.   This is the journey Sag appreciates.      

The new moon chart has Sun/Moon around 2 degrees of Sagittarius.  Venus and Mercury are also in Sag and although they are too far away to form a conjunction, that is a lot of Sag.     There are no harsh aspects in the new moon chart but there is one ginormous astrology factor: Jupiter.    About five minutes after the New Moon launches, Jupiter stations direct at 28/29 degrees of Pisces.    The universe apparently had a sense of humor all 2022.   There were four months that had a planet change direction within 24 hours of the new moon.    Pluto on the Taurus new moon, Neptune on the Cancer New Moon, Jupiter on the Leo New Moon and now, because he likes to pull focus, Jupiter is turning direct on Sag new moon.   This means that Jupiter is an influence this whole 29-day cycle.   Additionally, Jupiter is in trine to the New Moon.  Abbondanza!    

And one more humorous note, Jupiter is the planet that rules Sagittarius.   Think the Universe wants to get our attention? 

Jupiter has a lot of opinions, a lot of enthusiasm and Sag is big energy, big stories, big thoughts, big ideas.   Jupiter trine Sun&Moon opens up the flood gates of ‘bigger is better’.    Of course, what do we know?  Overindulging is NOT really that great.     Our challenge will be to NOT overeat, NOT over spend, NOT over commit, NOT over joy.   Enjoy the good but try to avoid 29 days of a Roman bacchanal.   

Shadow Sag

Sag is accused of being too cheerful and missing the negative truth or shadow of the story.   Perhaps.   But Sag when it is negative is quite dour.   Full of harsh judgments, cannon fire opinions that can slay people to their knees.  Unprocessed Sag can be loaded with Hypocritical actions.  Rooted in all this negativity is a lack of trust, faith, or confidence that anything can get better.   That’s dark of course and often the despair is masked by Sag’s famous “Know-it-All” attitude.   Shadow work is important, if lack comes up or a sense of ‘shit I can’t fix this’ that is okay.   Breathe through it.   Of course, it is not helpful in the 29-day cycle to throw around opinions that do nothing more than hurt others.  If you find yourself going into a righteous bender, disconnect from others, go outside in nature.  Take a walk.   Watch a movie with a great story that ‘transports’ you.  Or find a charity, do something that reminds you there is more to the world than your fears and your opinions.   Jupiter in Pisces benefits by humanitarian thoughts and actions.  It can soothe the shadow.

Jupiter spends about five months retrograde every year.   Once Jupiter finishes up a sign, it will be twelve years before it returns.  Jupiter is the greatest teacher planet, so when it stations direct it is   always beneficial to take time to reflect on what has transpired and what can be learned from the retrograde period.  

What has come up since July 28 where you have had to lean into being a bridge?   What worlds have you joined together?  How have you pivoted your philosophies?   Where have you deepened your education?   What have you learned?   While Jupiter was in Pisces how have you responded to humanitarian needs?   How have you been generous with compassion?   While Jupiter was in Aries how have you been out front for you?   What bigness did you bring to your ‘identity’?  The next time Jupiter will be in Pisces will be 2033.   Learn the most you can between now and Dec 20 when Jupiter returns to Aries.  Once in Aries we are expanding our need for self-determination.  We need to get out there and find our path, our independence.   We get fiery about our personal place in the word.   We lean into “Me”.   Guess what? That’s okay.

Mar 24, 2023:  Neptune exits shadow 

Neptune is in the final ten degrees of Pisces.  Neptune is dreamy, soft, and muted.  Neptune speaks to our intuition and Pisces doubles down on those things that can’t be explained.    Are we aspirational?  Or are we delusional?   It is good to remember that the last time Neptune was in these degrees of Pisces was the middle of the 1850s.  A creative period, the camera was invented.  Also delusional as a country kept pivoting thinking it could continue on as a slave nation.  

Neptune can dissolve barriers.  It softens hard edges.   Keeping our feet on the ground can be challenging around the date of station direct.  What has come up since June 28?   Where did we feel misguided?   Who lied?  Or did we lie?  Did we get lost in booze, drugs, fantasy, or conspiratorial rabbit holes?  Which are all the darker side of Neptune.   Now as it straightens out are we on the other side of a dream or fantasy?    Or did we fantasize about a future that we want?   Can we take this time before the next retrograde in 2023 to figure out a plan to realize those dreams?   

It is interesting that before Neptune was discovered, Jupiter was the ruling planet of Pisces.     We are loaded with big Jupiter energy this 29-day cycle and his sibling Neptune also gets our attention.    Faith, trust, creativity, dreaming our future all seem to be on the table.

Mars continues to be retrograde.  Around September 27 we had a trine between Mars and Saturn.   Now on Nov 28, we get part two of that boost.  Actions that are concrete and decisive reward us.    We are focused on hard work.  Projects that need a lot of our attention are easier to tackle.    It feels good to get in the weeds and tackle big projects on our to-do list.   Because Saturn is in Aquarius there are friends and groups who benefit by our actions.    Tech can be less frustrating.   Wow, say that twice.  

Finally, 

Jupiter and Sag are bridges.  Sag bridges the common ground when it finds a truth.   Jupiter is the bridge planet between the internal personal planets and the external generational planets.  It connects our life to the bigger story in the mundane astrology of the world.    We are all living our lives right now as Pluto begins its drive towards Aquarius (March 2023), Saturn heads for Pisces (March 2023). Uranus is mid Taurus, striking memory cords of the 1850s and 1930s when it was at these same degrees of Taurus.  Neptune is in the last ten degrees of Pisces before it exits into Aries(March 2025).    Those are all big changes for the world.     The world will experience significant upheavals in the next ten years.   It is hard to imagine how we will look and how our own personal story will unfold in the world.     With that all in front of us, let’s take the energy of Jupiter and ask Sag to help us put our arrow in the sky and aim for a target.   Targets may be helpful as our journey unfolds.

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:     Where are you being big?  How are you finding the good?  What does the shadow tell you?  How can you navigate the big and the fear?  What goals are popping up?  Where can you aim your arrow?

Crescent Moon Phase

November 26, 2022

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about your executive abilities?   What are you learning about business?  What are you learning from your ‘inner’ CEO?   What are you learning about leading organizations?

11/28:  Mars trine Saturn.  Get your actions on!  Mars will help you navigate even the most difficult tasks.

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted. 

Focus on:  What actions are you taking that connect with creativity?  What actions lean into mystical?   What actions are fuzzy but rely on trust?

11/30 Venus opposition Mars.  Love and actions seem at odds.  Spirited conversations.   Love of talk.  Love of quick actions.

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.  

Focus on:  How are you refining your ability to “put me first?” How are you refining your self-determination abilities?   How are you refining leadership?  How are your refining independence? 

Special focus

12/3: Venus square Neptune.  Illusionary, dreams and fantasy, are they reachable?  Or is the love not there?  

12/5: Mercury square Jupiter.  Large conversations.  Large opinions.  Rhetoric not helpful.

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually, emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us.  There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?  

Focus on:  Communication, pivoting, updating information, but avoid gossip.   Information that arrives, does it suggest an action?  Is it based on fact?   What is the bigger picture or theme of the facts?  How do you pull back and get some distance? 

Special focus 

12/7: Mars oppose Mars.  Fights.  Actions that are rough and tough.  Fighting words.  Opinions that are helpful?  Or not helpful? 

12/9: Venus square Jupiter.  Over indulgence.  Too much big love too much big spending.  Too much big.

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:  How are your strength? How are you sharing your bravery?  How are you sharing boldness?  How are you sharing your passion?  How are you sharing the things you love? 

Special focus:

12/12:  Sun sextile Saturn.  Boosts from the community that is helpful.

The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”
