Cancer Solar Eclipse & NEW MOON 2020

Where should my focus be during this next 29-day cycle? 

When we draft a chart for the new moon, we can get a sense of the energy that will be up for processing for the next 29 days.  

Okay what is this cycle about?     Your emotions and feelings are guiding you but you must know how to connect and when to dive.

We have now reached a square (go-degree angle) to the beginning of the cyclic process. This is a moment of crisis, a sharp turning point. In the zodiacal cycle, at the summer solstice the northward motion of the sun (in “decimation”) stops; the sun rises and sets as far north of exact east and west as it can during the year-cycle. Its motion is now reversed. Slowly the sunset points move southward on the western horizon, and the length of the day decreases. In the lunation cycle (from New Moon to New Moon) this is the First Quarter phase. On the “ship” which symbolizes the ego-consciousness floating, as it were, on the sea of the vast Unconscious, the individualized will makes a basic decision. Cancer New Moon

Welcome to Cancer New Moon and Solar Eclipse.  This is not a total eclipse it is an annular eclipse.   

As we discussed last month, we had the June 5 Sag Full Moon lunar eclipse followed by this June 20 solar eclipse followed by July 4 Capricorn lunar eclipse.  That is a lot of eclipse juju in a few weeks and this solar eclipse could be argued the most weighted given it is on top of the solstice.   No doubt we will all feel our inner Stonehenge vibrating. 

At the Cancer New Moon we reconnect with our feelings and our emotions.    This is a good time to remember the differences between emotions and feelings.  You can certainly google the differences and will find a lot of links but basically, emotions are a universal response and feelings are your personal response.   From BitBrain:

Thanks to emotions, when we see a bear at the zoo we don’t run away (which would be the primary emotional reaction) and are capable of combining the stimulus (bear) with the situation (zoo) to remain calm. Basically, feelings are sparked by emotions, and this difference is important as our survival depends on avoiding danger.

During Cancer New Moon and 29- day lunar cycle we are processing both our emotions and our feelings to our emotions.  With the eclipse something is ending and something new is being born.  Perhaps we may be surprised by our reaction to something that pops up these 29 days that normally would have elicit one response and instead something else comes up.   

Cancer speaks to listening to our emotions and feelings but take care to not drown in them.   Cancer is the first water sign of the zodiac.  If you have been to the shore you know what it looks like to go out into the ocean and have the waves crash on you.  Depending on their size it can be fun and exhilarating or scary and deadly.    The key is to know how to respond.   Unless you are an experienced surfer with a solid board who can ride the wave until it completes, the rest of us have to dive deep under big waves and pop up on the other side avoiding the crash.   This analogy is critical for powerful Cancer.   Are you going to collapse into your emotions?   Okay.  Go for it.   But remember to shake it off.    The waves are not static.  They aren’t all one size happening at the same time in the same volume.  The tides are in constant state of evolution.   Either growing to full or retreating to low tide.    You should note your own response –is it fading or growing?    If it is one emotion, one feeling, full throttle for an extended period of time you may be missing the point of Cancer.  Cancer can connect to subtle changes.   There is power in that awareness.  Find it.  

On the new moon chart there is a square with Mars and Sun/Moon.  We may feel a pressure to ‘do’ something but not exactly sure how to do it, given Mars is in Pisces.   This theme was also in the Gemini lunar month where we are drawn to humanitarian issues (Mars in Pisces) but not sure what to do.   Cancer makes everything so personal and that is critical because it is Cancer who knows how to feed and clothe ourselves and take care of our loved ones and family.   It builds our homes.  Remember Cancer is the crab and he unlike any of the other signs, carries his home on his back.   Mars in Pisces points out the underdog and with the square to Sun/Moon our sympathetic and empathetic feelings will be pronounced.   Figuring out what to do will be the rub especially given Mercury is retrograde in the sign Cancer.    Conversations and discussions that are real will be critical in our personal lives and in the mundane world during the whole 29-day cycle.   

Jupiter conjunct Pluto

On April 4 Jupiter got on top of Pluto forming a conjunction.   This aspect repeats two more times on June 29 and November 12.   Let’s stop down to make two points.   The last time Jupiter was in Capricorn was 2008 at that same time Pluto had just moved into Capricorn.   They did not form a conjunction because they were too far apart.  But they were close enough to impact the world and when both planets turned direct in September of 2008, within days of each other, the stock market crashed activating The Recession.   Last December Jupiter entered Capricorn for the first time in 12 years and headed for Pluto.  As in 2008 we saw the volatility of the stock market again.   There have been major drops and some rallies tied to big bail outs.   The last time we had those bail outs was again in 2008-2009 when both were in Capricorn.    As the biggest planet of the zodiac tangles with arguably the most powerful planet in the zodiac (Pluto rules power) we should anticipate major economic swings.  Major.  Not itty bitty, big as in BIG.    As to the other point and I have said both of these points before, but they bear repeating.  Historians of astrology will write that the Covid-19 virus is tied to January 10 Solar Eclipse, January 12 Saturn conjunct Pluto and April 4 Jupiter conjunct Pluto.  So here we sit with Jupiter not done with Pluto.   We should anticipate a call back to April as we head towards June 29 and again on November 12.    While we note the dates, the truth is that the two planets never get that far apart so this Jupiter Pluto mash up is an influence all summer and fall.    And not to put too fine a point, the last time Jupiter and Pluto were in conjunction in Capricorn was 1771.   For those of us familiar with American history we will note that was the run up to the Independence War.   Something was happening that would set up the future for USA.     Now the USA future is being formed again in 2020.   ‘What works?’ asks Capricorn.  ‘Who in power and is effective?’  Asks Pluto.   ‘How are people’s beliefs being transformed?’ asks Jupiter conjunct Pluto.   ‘What are the big ideas?’  Asks Jupiter.   Then at the end of the year, Jupiter will finally move out of Capricorn and into Aquarius on Dec 19 and on Dec 21 it will conjunct Saturn in Aquarius setting off a new cycle in air signs for the next 200 years.  In Aquarius we will consider humanity and what serves the majority.  What is humane?  Watch for issues in the news and our personal life where we ask: ‘What works?’  ‘Who is in power and are they effective?’  ‘How are people’s beliefs being transformed?’  ‘What are the big ideas?’    There could be some pain and a sober note that something is not working.  Death and rebirth are critical for Pluto including death of an idea or thinking.    As always, breathe through the tension.

We have been on a strange Venus retrograde trip since May 12^th. 

The shadow period began on April 9 and the shadow will end on July 28.   Like all station directs the energy will lighten once Venus straightens out, but we will still have bits and pieces of stuff unfold until the shadow ends on July 28. 

During this Venus retrograde process we should reflect on what we have learned about our values.  Who?  What?  Why?  These questions came up a lot during the retrograde in terms of values.  Perhaps we were asleep on a value and realized, ‘wow, I almost screwed up that one’.   Maybe it was a loved one whom we had taken for granted.  Maybe it was us who had been taken for granted and we woke up.   Maybe it was a situation that came up that we normally had remained muted on but we could not any longer and we stood up and supported someone.   Maybe we backed off on something to let others do their work.  If it died without our help then so be it.   This Venus retrograde took place from beginning to end in Gemini.  Any lessons that came up my have been activated by an emotion or a feeling but the processing of it was very mental and analytical.   Venus stationing direct in Cancer lunar cycle will no doubt touch a watery emotional nerve.  Perhaps it is relief, “Thank goodness I got through _____ “    

Of course, money, beauty, love and creativity matters can straighten out as Venus now stations direct.  Or how we approach them will be more focused with a new awareness.

Neptune spends a little less than half of every year retrograde. So, on one hand Neptune retrograde is ‘ho hum, you again?’   As we know Neptune moved into Pisces in 2011 and will remain in Pisces until 2026.  The Neptune in Pisces era speaks to our humanitarian, faith and artistic natures.  Matters of the greater heart, meaning issues beyond a loved one are pronounced.   Not for profit, charity and health Care are all Neptune in Pisces.   So, is oil and oceans and flooding and gases.   

Around the dates of the stations (June 22 & Nov 28) we may find our psychic and Woo-Woo up.   A thought, a memory, a sense, a feeling could connect us to something unworldly but important .  If your gut is talking to you---Listen.    Let’s see where we all land with our gut radar when Neptune stations direct on November 28 at 18 Pisces.     

Saturn returns to Capricorn

Last month (5/10) Saturn turned retrograde in Aquarius.  On July 1 it returns to Capricorn for its final round of important work.   Issues around career, prestige and where we put ourselves out ‘there’ in the world at large will be revisited.    Saturn likes being in Capricorn so he really will savor these few months to help us get our ‘Cap’ on.   Capricorn is our governments, industries, corporations, systems that work.   Where any of these are broken will benefit by Saturn’s keen eye and a whisk broom.  Saturn walks in and says, “Let’s clean this joint up”.   Saturn entered Capricorn Dec 19, 2017 and will wrap up for the final time December 17^th.   A lot will have our attention between July 1 and Dec 17.    There are those individuals who put a lot of emphasis on their career.   Great.  But they would be wise now to ask if their career lines up with their values?  There are those people who don’t give two figs about a career.  Does that hands-off approach help or hurt their family or world?  There are some people who are always looking up some ladder that they are climbing. Does that hurt their world?  Are they missing the nuances of life because they are so driven to ‘succeed’?   There are some people who eschew ladders.  Are they missing an opportunity to lead people or family in a way that betters their homes or community?  

Saturn is super responsible.  It can man up’and tackle any job it sets its mind to do. It can be super practical and wise.  Saturn can also be super negative, depressed and insecure.  It can be fearful.  That insecurity can also look like snobbery.  Above it all-ness.   It feels and looks frozen.   The antidote to fear, frozen snobbery, insecurity is action.    Consider if you can learn something from Saturn in its home sign between now and December 17 because it won’t be back for 28 years and that is a long time to wait to do something important in your life.

We will be talking a lot about Mars this summer and fall.  Mars is normally in a sign for about six weeks.  However, when it retrogrades it is in a sign for many months.  Such is the case with Mars this year who enters Aries on June 27 and does not enter Taurus until next January.   Mars in its fiery home sign will bring more energy and action than any of us can imagine.   Get a seat down front because it is going to be a real time, knock em out, battle between breaking new ground and challenging status quo when Mars bumps into squares with Capricorn planets.   More will be discussed in the next reports but we should all be aware of the energy shifting on June 27 when we enter a fire zone.  

In conclusion:

We have a big summer and fall ahead of us.  So much about how we respond to any hurdles or opportunities will be determined by our emotions and feelings.   Use this 29-day cycle to connect and process both emotions and feelings and do not drown in either.  That would be missing the power of change and nuance.

Crescent Moon Phase

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about your pride? What are you learning about your strength?  What are you learning about your creativity?  What are you learning about power of attraction?  What are you learning about your magnetisium?

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted. 

Focus on:  What actions are you taking that speak to your relationships?  What actions are you taking that connect you to your family and your partnership(s)? What actions are you taking that acknowledge your feelings/emotions and also support finding balance? 

6/29: Jupiter conjunct Pluto (see above)

6/30: Sun conjunct Mercury.  Information arrives that we may have neglected.  Something we didn’t know or missed needs focus and emotional grease and hard work.

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.  

Focus on:  How are you refining your depth?  How are you being exacting with your power?  How are you being laser with your evolution?  What are your emotions telling you about what needs to die and be reborn?

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us.  There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?  

Focus on:  

The final eclipse of the Cancer/Capricorn cycle that began in 2018.  We are wrapping up the dance between our emotions and our place in the world.  Our family vs our public self.  Our cozy versus our commerce.  Our home versus our career.

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:  How are you sharing your spirituality?  How are you sharing your humanitarianism?   How are you sharing your mysticism?  How are you sharing the thing that connects you to something bigger? 

Special focus:

7/14:  Sun oppose Jupiter.  Watch going overboard with emotions and feelings.   Watch taking on a project that is too big. 

7/14:  Mars conjunct Chiron.  Some big ass healing around self preservation and going it alone is churned up.  What does it mean carving your own way on something? 

7/15:  Sun oppose Pluto.  What needs an evolution?  Where can emotions help with the evolution?

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”
